Watch: Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars Perform ‘Safe & Sound’ Live In Concert

Last month, just before Xmas, we got a GREAT early present when the first single from the soundtrack to The Hunger Games was released. Safe & Sound by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars is the first single released from the Games soundtrack and by and large the song has been met with positive responses from most people. Last night, Taylor joined The Civil Wars on stage during their concert in Nashville, TN to surprise the audience with the first live performance of Safe & Sound. Thankfully, cameras were rolling in the audience. Click below to watch Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars perform Safe & Sound from The Hunger Games live.

An unforgettable night @TheRyman. Thanks to @taylorswift13 for debuting “Safe & Sound” with us, and thanks to all of YOU for being there.

According to Idolator, The Civil Wars had a little fun when they introduced Taylor as their guest performer last night:

Halfway through their concert, Joy Williams [one half of The Civil Wars] jokingly introduces a guest performer who “hasn’t had much time on stage” and “is really new at writing songs.” And out came Taylor Swift for the first live performance of “Safe and Sound”

OMG … what a great surprise. I really like the song and I think it’s very cool of Taylor to surprise the Civil Wars fans last night with this performance. I think the song sounds really fantastic live, don’t you?

This song sounds AMAZING live! I love it! I am really hoping that since Taylor is set to perform at the Grammy’s that this is the song she is performing and she brings the Civil Wars along. That would be incredible!

I’m so shocked that this sounds this great live.

Still a bit bitter about the fact that she wrote this song from Katniss’ POV, though.

    Katniss > TSwift

This movie needs to be released NOW.

I have been listening to this on repeat! I am also shocked at how good it sounds live, as some of her other live performances have sounded rocky. Love this song!
