First Listen: Jay-Z Releases A Song About His Newborn Daughter Blue Ivy, Previous Miscarriage

'Glory' Features a Guest Performance by Blue Ivy Herself

Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z welcomed the birth of their first born child, Blue Ivy, late Saturday night (albeit, amid some controversy) … and today, we get to hear the FIRST song inspired by the blessed little baby. Proud papa Jay put together a hip-hop track titled Glory that tells the story of the newborn’s conception and birth … and even features a guest appearance by Blue Ivy herself near the end of the song. Click below to get your FIRST LISTEN of Jay-Z‘s new song Glory (Featuring Blue Ivy) and read some of the lyrics from the song.

The most amazing feeling I feel
Words can’t describe what I’m feeling, for real
Baby I paint the sky blue
My greatest creation was you
Glory!

False alarms and false starts
All made better by the sound of your heart
All the pain of the last time
I prayed so hard it was the last time
Your mama said that you danced for her
Did you wiggle your ass for her?
Glory!

Bad-ass lil Hov
Two years old, shopping on Saville Row
Wicked-ass lil’ B
Hard not to spoil you rotten, looking like lil’ me
The most beautifullest thing in this world
Is daddy’s little girl
You don’t yet know what swag is
But you was made in Paris
And mama woke up the next day
And shot her album package
Last time the miscarriage was so tragic
We was afraid you’d disappear
But naw, baby, you magic

First off, dang … Jay-Z works fast. Naturally, Jay had some time to put this song together before Blue Ivy was born this weekend but … sheesh, still pretty fast, no? As for the lyrics, they are quite illuminating. Is Jay telling us that Beyoncé previously miscarried a baby? Considering how fiercely private B-Jay are about their personal lives, the lyrics of this song provide quite a bit of information. I’m so glad that just because Blue Ivy was “made in Paris” Bey and Jay decided it wasn’t a good idea to name their little girl Paris. This is a very sweet song, yeah? What do YOU think of this new track?

Does this mean B miscarried a baby before? How sad. I wish all the happiness in the world for this new family. Congrats to B and Jay! And Trent, where are you?!? Why is PITNB different?

  2. Shavonne

OMG how adorable is the little baby sounds at the end?!! Though I find it so weird that he had time to record his baby and release this already, but since when have Beyonce and Jay-Z been normal, really?

And if we thought Suri was THE princess of the celeb world, I’m sure Baby Blue will have something to say about that in the years to come lol

This song is way too sweet. The sound of love in his voice.
All the best to the new family.

having miscarried myself, its such a hard and sad thing :( i’m glad they were able to safely deliver blue into the world.

  5. Holy smokes. This is so sweet, insightful, loving… how many children are in hits in their first week on Earth? I loved Beyonce so much before… but this baby thing is making me love Jay and her even more… this is soooooo precious!!! I appreciate him sharing this with fans.

This is about the sweetest, most heart-felt thing a celeb daddy has done for his little lady. Welcome to the world beautiful baby Blue.

As for Jay releasing the track so quickly, I’d expect any super happy father would release a song the day after his baby is born, hahaha. But if you think logistically, Jay-Z, one of the most famous rappers in the world, can probably get immediate studio time for as long as he wants and then pay someone extra to master the track immediately, then have his people market it.

that song seriously brought tears to my eyes. so so sweet. congratulations again to the new parents!

“Most Beautifullest”?! Seriously?! No wonder… ugh, nevermind.

    • J to the Da

It’s a line from a Keith Murray (90s rapper) song called “The Most Beautifullest Thing”. Song’s about 16 years old. Was actually quote iconic in the hip hip world. Google it.

Am I the only one that thought “Did you wiggle your ass for her” was weird?…

  10. think its GREAT – miscarriages happen OFTEN and there’s so much shame and pain that no one acknowledges…. doesn’t have to be. What a gift little Blue and her parents are giving…. conversation.

aww Blue is gonna be the most lucky baby in the world!

  12. Jo

Now THAT is what a dad sounds like. All the best to them!

  13. Tiffany

After 3 back to back miscarriages, I can totally understand what it’s like waiting to be “in the clear” when your child crys. I must say I’m not a fan of the part of the lyrics in reference to a BABY :-/

    Anyways, congrats.

  14. Tiffany

Oops, part of my comment was deleted. Not a fan of the wiggling the @$$ in regards to a baby.

I read the lyric is actually “Did you wiggle your hands for her”, which when I listen to the song, it sounds like that. Cause wiggle your ass could be funny or creepy.

This is precious. Made me cry a lil bit!!
