Inspired by Jonah Hill and his fabulous makeover and weight loss, I thought I would have a look at some of my fave before and afters. These are my fave 3 stars who have transformed themselves and look so good inside and out. Do you have other celeb makeovers to share?

Ms Hudson has got to get the number 1 spot for me at the moment. Her weightloss has been the most talked about thing since sliced bread (or gluten free non-bread bread). She has actually come out and said now that her son doesn’t recognize old photos of her, or wouldn’t know it was her in a clip from Dreamgirls, because she has changed that much. All that aside, it is a pretty incredible transformation, she lost 80 pounds and is now a size 6. She also did it the healthy way, through a good diet and exercise. I think Jen is a bit of an inspiration to women all over who battle with their weight and she has made the perfect spokewoman for Weight Watches. You look gorgeous J!

I don’t want to be a downer but I’m not a fan of the weight-change, fatty to beauty stories. I think it’s something best left for the likes of “People”, not PITNB. I love PITNB because it doesn’t rely on weight-loss and Kardashian posts. Keep looking for interesting, indy movies and good reads to tell me about instead. That’s what I can’t get from “People”.
@Tabitha- I agree. Please don’t EVER let there be a Kardashian post on this site!
I second this.
Kelly and Ms. Hudson look phenomenal! Renee scares me. I’m gonna keep screaming the same thing about Mariah, aside from the weightloss she had a tummy tuck!!!!!! Her belly button says it all. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no hater, I’m a Lamb for life.
Kelly and Ms.Hudson looks AMAZING!! I am speechless. Good for them. I am actually JELLY.
This post would be better if it wasn’t all about women who lost weight. Way to perpetuate the body-shaming.
I have to agree with other posters. I’ve been reading this blog for years instead of other blogs mainly because you don’t post stuff like this.
Coming from someone who has struggled with her weight and finally came to accept myself the way I am (healthy and happy but NOT a size 6) after many years of being depressed, I think this sends the wrong message to all females. Of course we could all lose 80 pounds if we had our food delivered and had a personal trainer work with us 8 hours a day, however, for most of the world that is not possible. I think Jennifer Hudson is a bad role model for weight watchers because that is NOT what you should expect from the program (and the little teeny tiny message at the bottom saying “results not typical” proves it) and people can get very depressed and discouraged when they don’t see those results. I’m not saying weight watchers is bad, just that we need reasonable expectations.
In addition, both Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Osborne were beautiful BEFORE they lost weight, and to say they are only beautiful now is very shallow. That says to me that I will never be beautiful because I am not that skinny, and I certainly hope that is not the case.
Sorry Trent this was a big miss for me…
(sorry for the long post!!)
I really, really like your comment, Stephanie. Agreed!
perfectly said Stephanie!
I think you guys are all missing the point… Trent’s not trying to make women feel bad for not being skinny. And the person who said Kelly was beautiful before… she was also a drug addict and her new body symbolizes her new life. And Jennifer was beautiful before, but what makes us most beautiful is how we feel on the INSIDE and it’s fairly obvious that she feels healthier and happier as a result.
I’m going to have to disagree with some of what was said. Yes they were lovely before they lost weight. Nobody should feel ugly or made to feel ugly if they’re overweight and weight loss isn’t something to be entered into lightly.
Now with that said weight loss is ALWAYS hard. Even if these women had someone knocking on their door every morning for a work out it’s still a struggle to not stray from the dieting, and weight loss is 75% dieting. And who cares if you have your meals delivered? You still need to visit the grocery store and what’s to stop you from picking up a gallon of ice cream? Six months ago I was a size 16 and now, today, I’m a size 7/8. And I’m broke as a joke. I don’t have someone knocking on my door and I don’t have my meals delivered. I did try ideal protein a year ago and yes I did buy a gallon of ice cream with my case of water at the store even tho I had most of my meals taken care of at home.
It’s AMAZING that you’re comfortable the way you are but as someone that’s struggled with being over weight and now with dieting I don’t appreciate hearing other people, not just you, demean another persons weight loss. I don’t understand why everyone has to be a hater, whatever happened to a simple ‘congratulations!’ or ‘great job!’?? If anything the negative people are the bad role models, not the ones that made a positive change in their lives.
This post doesn’t even *sound* like you, Trent! Is this one of those embedded paid things, or what? It’s obviously your blog and you can do what you want with it, but this is disappointing to me. :(
thats because its not Trent, its Melissa.
Bravo I agree! Personally I thought JHud looked better before and her personality from interviews and such seems different… But yes the blog is kinda becoming totally not personal anymore… I’m not a hater I promise, I have really loved reading this blog for years and the life of Trent :) remember PITNB you’re beautiful the way you are ;)
@Stephanie you are never not beautiful
I think JHud had lap band or some surgical assistance. She was heavy forever and got thin in a few months. Weight watchers is good but not THAT good. Renee Z always looks sick and dying. She only looked good in Bridget Jones. A lil weight did her good. Kelly looks fantastic! And Mariah had a nice tummy tuck and still looks to “Thick”. She doesnt have the small pre body frame she did in her younger single, pre-baby days.
This post was not done by Trent, it was done by his new partner Melissa who has a different style than he does. You’ll know it’s a Trent post when there are pictures with pink words on it. Her posts tend to have enlarged pictures, and there are no words on them.
Thank you for all your comments, I read each and every one of them and value your feedback immensely. Let me clarify, I was by no means implying you have to be slim to be beautiful. As someone who personally lost 30 pounds (without personal trainers and chefs) I know first hand how connected self confidence and well-being are to how you feel about your body image. I am passionate about health and well being and it is great to aspire to role models who live by this mantra. This post was about finding that balance, being healthy and feeling good about ourselves, whether you’re a size 6, 10 or 14! I also wanted us to think about how our opinion of our fave stars changes depending on their appearance. Keep sending your opinions though, I love them, and they really get us discussing important topics. xoxo
I’ve been reading this blog for years, but never felt the need to post until now. I am not a fan of Melissa’s work so far. Trent…why the need for a second poster? You’re great.
I said this in another post, but I think it would solve the problem if Melissa’s post carried a different header or subtitle so we could know who’s voice we’re hearing. That way she can say “I” and state her opinion more clearly instead of this “we” stuff that sounds like Star Magazine.
I agree. Your readers of FIVE YEARS should know who is writing what. Or you’re going to lose fans.
I don’t know why people are freaking out. I’ve been reading this blog that long and I didn’t even notice it was a different writer.
I also really don’t see the problem with this post. If you don’t like it, don’t read it, and move on. Geez.
No need to bash someone for having a POSITIVE post about people who lost weight the healthy way. There is nothing wrong with celebrating how awesome they look.
The one I disagree with on this list is Kelly Osbourne, because she has an ugly fatist attitude now that she’s lost weight. She’s been quoted fat bashing other actresses and saying really uncalled for and mean things about them. You would think someone who had been bullied would realize how totally rude and hurtful that is, but apparently not. Her attitude is horrible and she’s a bitter mean person.
I just prefer to know who is writing. I don’t think too many people are upset.
Starting to wish I could see who posted a story before opening it.
But since websites are all about the clicks …
Can we please know who is writing which post, now that there is another writer besides Trent? Thank you.
Melissa, you’re doing great :) (for those of you complaining, it says who posted so stop complaining, there’s always room for a little change)
And also, some of those girls were unhealthy and overweight – and now they look great! I like this story and I have been a reader for YEARS.
We know it says it at the very bottom, but some of us prefer it plastered on the top somewhere so we can skip it if we choose BEFORE THE JUMP.
I didn’t see the “Posted By: melissa” at the bottom, so thank you for pointing it out.
@BriK
Sorry that wasn’t meant to sound like I was arguing with you! :)
Wow! I can’t believe that way the readers are acting here. Try to be respectful of someone’s hard work, if you don’t like it, don’t read it and don’t comment. I don’t think the article was “fluff” as this time of year a lot of people are looking for inspiration to start a new healthy lifestyle. You don’t need a personal chef/trainer to get healthy. Do some research, have willpower at the grocery store, and get your butt to the gym! I am a full time nursing student, I work full time, and I’m a single mom and I still find time to eat right and spend time in the gym! It’s a lifestyle choice and these people made it, you don’t need to criticize them if you choose not to do the same. That being said, I refuse to believe Mariah Carey did anything the natural way. NOBODY carries twins and has a flat, taught stomach with no stretch marks.
I think that most of the negative comments stem from the fact that readers of this blog are used to stories that are less ‘fluffy’ and more credible than the usual celebrity gossip sites. I have always found Trent’s posts to be both positive and thoughtful and I am finding Melissa’s to be below the usual standards of PITNB. There are now far more posts than there used to be, but more is not always better. I enjoy reading reports that, for the most part, have been confirmed and are not pure speculation. There are plenty of sites out there that will blog anything and everything. PITNB has never been one of them which I have always appreciated. The last few days, however, there has been a real shift in the types and tones of stories on this site…not for the better, unfortunately.
I completely agree with you, Julie. I have been an avid reader of this blog, and the shift in style of writing and topics is quite dramatic to me. Yes, change can be good, but why change something that is wonderful already? It’s nice that Trent is giving someone else a chance to write something for PItNB, but Trent’s posts are much more thoughtful and personal (and hilarious). I will probably not read the posts that are not written by Trent…I’m really not a fan of them so far. Readers have the right to choose what to read and state their opinions as well.
1. renee looks way better as bridget jones…more human at least.
2. kelly gets my vote for the most awkwardly placed and ugly tattoos…but she looks great lately.
3. mariah looks beautiful at any size…not everyone has to be skinny!
I don’t like these transformations. With the exception of Hudson who was large enough that it was probably going to affect her health, there was nothing wrong with any of these women’s before pictures. Zellweger, Osborne, and Carey all looked like normal sized women.
Sorry, not a fan of this post. Editing — the post describes four transformations, not three. And content — vapid. I like this blog because Trent is so supportive of people…
This shows posted by Melissa. Does Trent have people working for him now, or is this an ad? Not a fan of it either. In fact, not liking how cluttered the blog now looks :( Still love Trent though.
Yep. Trent hired Melissa. Not very many people seem to like it.
@ava — Actually, only some people are unhappy … by and large, the response to Melissa’s arrival has been positive and welcoming :D
