Salma Hayek Is Going To Have a Fancy New French Title

Salma Hayek is one of the sexiest actresses and we do love her. She’s had a stellar career in Hollywood as one of the most successful Mexican actors, but knighted? Wow!

She was among those named by French President Nicolas Sarkozyto receive the Légion d’Honneur, and will enter the five-tiered honor academy with the grade of Chevalier or “Knight.” The French President announced an official New Year’s list, naming Salma, and she will receive a formal induction including a Presidential medal pinning at the Élysées Palace. Talk about grandeur, this is incredible.

The Legion of Honor was founded by Napoleon in 1802 as a merit award and is usually awarded to military personnel and civilians for service to France, but it is not just for the French and can be awarded to figures of international standing, aka hot celebs who will give France good publicity.

Salma will be joining the ranks of Jerry Lewis, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro, who have all been pinned by the French. Go Salma! I for one think this is amazing and you should be honored! Congrats!

In the Constitution of Mexico its stated to be prohibited to accept foreign titles without permision of the Federal Congress. It is one of the few restrictions we have in order to keep our citizenship… I don’t really think she’ll mind though!
