Movie Review: ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’
The TV Guide

Yesterday afternoon, before I met up with Adriana for our Tori Amos concert last night, David and I met up with Darion in Century City to see Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. To be honest, I think I wanted to see the flick more than I wanted to admit to myself and since David and Darion wanted to see it, well, that was my excuse. I’m glad I went because we all had a great time. M:I 4 very likely won’t be winning any Oscars but it’s a fun, action-packed movie so … I think it might be worth your time, too.

If you are at all familiar with the previous 3 Mission: Impossible films (or the classic TV series, for that matter) then you absolutely know what you’re gonna get with this new movie. High-paced action, crazy stunt scenes, lots of subterfuge and Tom Cruise doing lots of crazy-assed stuff. Simon Pegg is just the best thing in this movie. Actually, scratch that … Paula Patton is the best part of M:I 4 but Pegg‘s effortless comedy is a very close runner up. There’s something to be said about the right level of comedy in action films like this. Simon Pegg makes the comedy seem easy and real (Jeremy Renner, on the other hand, is a great action star … but he’s not very funny). As for Paula Patton, I mean … wow. She is a stunning woman who is just a delight to watch. I’ve seen her in other films but she really steals the show this time around. I hope she gets other action films … she’s really good. Tom Cruise, bless his crazy heart … I gotta give the man props for some of the crazy stuntwork he does in this film. Last year we saw photos of him hanging off the tallest building in Dubai … in the film, those scenes are among the most breath-taking. I literally screamed out loud at one point … no, I’m not very proud of it. There are a lot of “important” films out there right now but if you’re looking for a mindless good time, this might be the movie for you. We saw Ghost Protocol in IMAX and the scenes were amazing. I had fun at the movies watching M:I 4, you might too.

I have to admit I want to see this too, but only because the director is Brad Bird. I LOVED Iron Giant and the Incredibles, I can’t wait to see what he does with actual humans instead of animation!

I don’t care what anyone says, Tom Cruise is THE man!

Tom Cruise must be one hell of an actor because even though he is batshit crazy in real life I always believe him in a movie. I can’t wait to see this one. :)

Saw it Sunday and absolutely loved it! Kudos to the writers/producers for sticking with what works but also making the series seem fresh!
