First Look: Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Releases A First Movie Poster
Alien?

Last month we got our first look at the new Ridley Scott sci-fi film Prometheus when an early trailer for the film was leaked to the Internets. Today we get to check out something a bit more official. The first movie poster for Prometheus, which is due to hit theaters in June of next year, has been released and it kinda sorta gives us a feel for the film’s storyline. Check out the poster below.

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery. Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien), the film stars Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand), Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes 2), Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Charlize Theron (Monster), Idris Elba (Thor), Rafe Spall, Guy Pearce (Memento), Emun Elliott (Lip Service), Benedict Wong (Moon), Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green and Kate Dickie. Damon Lindelof wrote the script which was originally written by Jon Spaihts and based on an idea by director Scott. Prometheus is currently filming in the UK and scheduled for theatrical release on June 8th, 2012.

Despite the early trailer leak and this shadowy poster, we still don’t know exactly what to expect from Prometheus … and I think that is exactly the way Ridley Scott wants it to be. The man is a master storyteller and is largely responsible for creating his own genre of sci-fi film. With him behind the camera and the fantastic cast of actors listed above in front of the camera, how can anything go wrong? I am really curious and excited about this film … I’m looking forward to seeing more. At this point, I’m happy not knowing what the Hell the film is all about … because I know when we do find out the story of Prometheus we will NOT be disappointed.

Uh, this dailybam version of the poster seems messed up – someone tinkered with it. A cleaner version is @ comingsoon.

Ridley Scott and sci-fi – I can’t imagine who is better director for this genre. Love Alien and Blade Runner…
