Watch: Nike Teases The Forthcoming Release Of ‘Back To The Future’ Shoes
Marty McFlys are REAL!!!
Wooot!!! 22 years after the world got its first look at Nike sneakers from the year 2015 in the hit film Back to the Future Part II, Nike is teasing the forthcoming release of those very same shoes … for US to own! This week, Nike unveiled a promo video that shows a warehouse full of racks and racks of the Back to the Future sneaks that Marty McFly wore in the film … sneaks that will soon be made available for purchase by all. Check out the video and deets below.
Great Scott! Nike is releasing the Nike Air Mag kicks, just as they were prominently displayed on the feet of Michael J Fox in the future vision of Back To The Future 2 … Just this year, Nike patented a rough design for a light-up shoe with built-in batteries that (somehow) helped automatically secure the shoe onto the user’s foot. AKA POWER LACES. Looks like we may get the McFly kicks before the year 2015. No news on price or when they will available, but I promise to stay on this story until I have a pair of my very own.
OMG OMG OMG OMG!! I have wanted these shoes FOR 22 YEARS!!! The fact that they light up is awesome …
UPDATE: A few moments ago, Nike officially unveiled the Nike Air Mag AKA “Marty McFly” shoe. As stated earlier, Nike announced that 1500 pairs of this shoe will be auctioned on eBay, nikemag.eBay.com, with all net proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The auction will begin tonight at 8:30PM PST and end on September 18 (150 pairs will be posted on eBay per day for 10 days). The Nike Air Mag has been anticipated for the longest as it first showed its face in the 1989 2015 released film Back to the Future.

Engadget says that they will be on auction on Ebay and unfortch – not self lacing… the money will be going to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Alzheimers…
ummm… the Michael J. Fox Foundation supports research for Parkinson’s disease, not Alzheimer’s
This is amazing! I want. And Ben & Jerry’s has a Schewddy Balls flavor?! WHAT IS AIR?!
it would have been cool if they waited till 2015….
just hope this girl (Blake Bevin) was part of that Nike project or that Nike paid her for it since she actually came up with it herself September of last year (2010). http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/vide.....s-11743680
there is no self-tying laces on these if you look
Why? Nike had the patent in for these in 2009.
She didn’t come up with the power lace idea herself. She simply made it come to life.
I can just see my dog, named McFly, chewing these ALL up.
It would have been cooler if they waited until October 21, 2015! :p
I just watched the back to the future movies a couple of weekends ago and i’m interested to see how these actually look in real life!!!!!
trent, i sure hope you meant to say MARTY McFLY in that last line! if not, great lil subtle joke!
@joe — LOL, yes … thanks. Tho Mary McFly kinda works too ;)
Trent,
These, unfortunately, do not power-lace.
You can bid on them here: http://nikemag.ebay.com/
Nike will be adding 150 pairs each day for 10 days – total of 1500 pairs, with 100% of the final sale price going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Supposedly, the power-lace model will be released in 2015.
Ha, just saw your update. Great minds!
You’ll have to show us a photo of you and your new Nike Air Mag’s!!!
the best news ever. why did it take so long? anyway, glad to see them, not sure if i can score a pair though. Love BTTF.
They auctioned the first pair, which was sold for over $35k.
