Rihanna Reveals That A New Album Is On The Way
Plans for a 'Loud' Re-Release are Scrapped

Great news, Rihanna fans … according to the songstress herself, plans for a re-release of her most recent album Loud have been scrapped in lieu of the release of an entirely new album! While tweeting with fans on Twitter yesterday, Ri Ri spilled that she has decided to not reissue her last album and will, instead, work toward the release of a new album of new material. To that I say, Woot!!

Rihanna confirmed that she’s indeed in the middle of preparing a brand new effort for her next studio installment. The Bajan songstress initially had a plan to re-release her fifth album “Loud”, but she had a second thought about it. She decided to axe it and go with all-brand-new album. The “California King Bed” singer revealed it when answering a fan’s question on Twitter:

“I tht abt a RihRelease, but LOUD is its own body of work! Plus u guys work so F?CKIN hard that u deserve to act brand new!!!”

Details about the new album are still scarce, but “Man Down” producer Verse Simmonds once said RiRi has been “closing the album up.” He dished, “We did two records for her that she really, really loved and I’m really excited about them as well. They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.” Talking about the sound they crafted for RiRi, Simmonds said it’s different from the reggae-infused “Man Down”. “We always try to constantly – as producers, as artists – we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound,” he stated.

Yes!! To be honest, I’m TOTALLY over re-released albums. If an artist wants to release new music from an old album, they should just release an EP or release the songs as b-sides. I’m really glad that Rihanna isn’t doing the re-release thing and is, instead, focusing on a new album. I love how she churns out new albums on a yearly basis … just like Britney Spears used to do in her early days. I say, bring on the new music! YES!

I would LOVE if Britney did a re-release once, especially for “Femme Fatale”! However, Rihanna is EXTREMELY overexposed… Britney may have been overexposed but, dare I say that Britney is more talented, especially back then. Then again Rihanna and Britney are two totally different artists, but still. “Loud” isn’t really a good album and sounded horribly rushed. Artists re-release albums to get more sales accounted to that album… A lot of EP’s flop – hard.

Didn’t Loud come out only 9 months after Rated R? I could be wrong. Sometimes it seems like quality suffers when people try to pump out cds too fast. I guess we will have to wait and see! Rhianna’s music is hit and miss for me. I am really not liking the newest single, mostly because of the retched Avril Lavine sample.

I agree with you on the pumping out thing. Rihanna, Gaga, etc. need to slow it the fuck down and allow for some breathing room between their albums. Fans and music lovers would be okay with that. Besides, it would allow the artistry to grow and change and kind of stand apart from the previous thing the artist released.
As for the new single, I love the key she’s singing in on it, but yes, the Avril sample is a wide world of NO!

good. this Loud era has over exposed her. its time to move on. i hope she takes her time with this next album. Loud was hit or miss with the songs. she needs a back to basics album…as in no clown hair, no over the top sex acts in every song ect.

I hated LOUD it sounded so fake! And I hate that she released like ten out of eleven tracks as singles I’m over rhianna now if she comes out with some good raw material like RATED R she could win me back.
As for Britney … she does no wrong ;)

I dont understand why everyone was saying Beyonce is overrated but yet Rihanna has put out 6 albums in 6 years. She needs to take a break and come back with something different. All the oversexed and nakedness is not called for.

BLAH and YAY. I didn’t even know until reading this that there might’ve been a ri-release of LOUD. Re-releases are lame to the max. Right up there with TicketBastard’s “convenience” fee. Just a blatant money grab that totally turns me off as a consumer and only makes me head straight to the torrents to hear anything new on the re-release. I’m with you, Trent… it’s either EP’s or nothing.
All that said, LOUD was a terrific pop album (absolutely one of 2010′s best) and “Only Girl” is one of 2011′s best pop singles. I sure hope her next album is at least as good. I totally love Rihanna and kick myself routinely for not bothering to go to her concert this summer.

Jeez, another new album? she’s been releasing stuff every year since 2005 and while her music is good overall, she really needs to give herself some resting time.

  10. She is really growing as an artist but in life like the rest of us, she doesnt always make the best decisions
