Back in July we got our first look at the first promo trailer for Anderson Cooper‘s new daytime talk show Anderson. Today we learn that Coop is kicking off his new show with a bang … by scoring the first interview with Amy Winehouse‘s parents since her death. I know it sounds a wee bit morbid but many folks are curious to hear from Janis and Mitch Winehouse … so those folks will have to tune in to the series premiere of Anderson to hear from them first.

Anderson Cooper will speak to Amy Winehouse’s family for the premiere of his new daytime show on Monday, September 12. He tweeted on Tuesday, “On @anderson sept 12. Amy Winehouse’s family – her dad, mom, stepmom, boyfriend – speak for the 1st time since her death.” He added, “I’m really looking forward to speaking with Amy Winehouse’s family. They’ve been through so much, and her talent was so great.” Cooper’s producers have been in touch with the Winehouse family for several weeks now, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He told the publication, “We want it to be a look at what happened to her and the struggles that she was facing and the struggles that the family was facing in trying to get [her] help and her incredible talent and career.” Cooper was a fan of Winehouse. When he heard about her death, he tweeted, “”Just heard a report amy winehouse has died. If true, such a waste of a great talent.” The segment will air for the premiere of CNN host’s new daytime show “Anderson.” The interview will mark the first time her family is speaking out since the singer was found dead in her London home in July. Cooper also taped an interview with “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” about the suicide of cast member Russell Armstrong on Tuesday.
Wow … the Winehouse parents AND the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Anderson is really pulling out all the stops to try and get folks to tune into his show. Again, as kinda morbid as it may sound, Anderson is really just sparking conversation about topics that everyone is talking about these days … just like a good talk show host should do. He has a gentle way with reporting, I think these interviews will be fine … and worth watching. Will YOU be tuning in?
