Watch: The ‘Femme Fatale’ Tour Dancers Pay Tribute To Britney Spears
Honorable Mention

While the prevalent belief among most people is that MTV really dropped the ball with their very short, very disappointing tribute to Britney Spears last night, it looks like her Femme Fatale Tour dancers have picked up the slack and have put together a tribute very fitting for the our dear Britney. With less than 3 hours and not much planning, Britney‘s troop of dancers put together a tribute video in her honor … which you can watch in full below.

VMA tribute to Britney Spears inspired the dancers on the Femme Fatale Tour to create our own special video.
Shot less then 3 Hours, Unplanned, and lots of fun!

Love You Brit!

Now THIS is a great tribute to Britney. If something like this, paired with the little girl dancers we saw on the VMAs last night and maybe a video montage with commentary from other various artists was presented as the Britney Tribute last night then I think everybody would be more than pleased with the way Britney was treated by MTV. But alas … no, that is not how things worked out. I must give HUGE props to Britney‘s dancers for putting this video tribute together. It’s fun, it’s fitting … and it’s fantastic! Don’t you agree?

i was uber disappointed. it’s like here’s this award for being an icon and a living legend… now introduce beyonce for 2 minutes! EPIC FAIL!

  2. PeterJakes says:

Britney’s dancers are, without a doubt, the best crew in the world!

  3. Alicia says:

Way more entertaining. And better dancing too!

  4. MaddieJ says:

Awesome! Last nights “tribute” was a disappointment for sure.

  5. Lauren xx says:

This speaks a lot to the kind of person Britney is. If she were anything less than a sweetheart to her dancers, her dancers would not do this for her.

  6. baroness says:

A living legend? an icon? Seriously? So Britney is up there with Bob Dylan now? I admit that thing with the kids dancing was lame, but it’s not like Britney has done anything worthy of this type of praise. Am I uninformed about her charity work or something? She’s has some nice songs but…what’s all the fuss, Gus? Give Gaga some love for dancing, actually singing, and speaking up for gay rights and gay pride.

    • Trent Trent says:

@baroness — “A living legend? an icon? Seriously?” Yes, seriously.

      • baroness says:

I love the passion and zest you have for her – but could you please make a good strong argument about why Britney is a living legend? -

      • Trent Trent says:

@baroness — Sure. After the long age of grunge in the mid 90s, Britney was the first female pop star to take the mantle of the genre and shoot it back into the stratosphere. While BSB and NSync were battling it out for boyband supremacy, Britney paved the way for solo pop stars to rule the world again. For the past 12 years, her influence on pop music has affected every single pop star around today. Britney may not have the Billboard chart pedigree that many other musicians do but she has managed to become beloved to her fans. Even tho she almost lost it all, thru all the darkness she endured a few years ago, the love and affection of her fans has remained as true as ever … and she is still going strong. Even Madonna herself understands the important pop culture impact that Britney has had. Madonna herself basically christened Britney as her successor with their various collaborations, etc. There is no popstar in the last decade who has been more important to pop music overall than Britney Spears. It’s just a fact :D

    • MM says:

@baroness Yes you are uninformed about Britney’s charity work, because she’s not one to make a big deal out of it. She’s classy that way – one of the many reasons she is so beloved.

She has generously donated millions of dollars to charity over the years. She even got Madonna to match her own donation of $1 million (!) for Hurricane Katrina victims. They were the two largest single donors at the time.

Next time you’re in a club and Slave 4 U comes on, check out how people respond by knowing every one of her dance moves and then ask if she’s an icon or not. Also, find another female solo singer who if not for a stupid technicality with Billboard charting would have SEVEN number one albums in a row and then ask if she’s a legend or not.

All this and she came from nothing, unlike Gaga who grew up on the Upper East Side in Manhattan and went to private prep school with Paris Hilton. Last I checked, we admired self-made millionaires – especially ones who are as down to earth and sweet like Britney.

Everyone is entitled to their own taste of course but in my opinion-you can’t argue that Britney is a living legend and icon.

are are very right MM , many people just never find out all the nice stuff that Britney has done for other over the years. Aside from her great music, videos , and shows she has put on , I will always love how sweet and humble she has been from the start. Even at the top of her game, she never came off as full of herself. Some singers today just have one or two albums and already go around acting like they are gods gift to the world.
Also I love how when all the Anti-Britney singers started coming up ( Avril, Michelle Branch, Vanessa, ect) and everyone was tearing her apart for being too sexy, fake, and just a fad, Britney never started a feud she just kept doing her thing. Funny how Britney outlasted them all, and how some of those Anti-Britney singers are now fans of hers.

It upsets me that people think GaGa was entitled and privileged above Britney Spears in that aspect of lifestyle before fame. Britney had it made before she was a teenager with the Mickey Mouse Club. She didn’t have to struggle to break into the industry. Her name was already in it. Lady GaGa struggled to belong in that high school, she had to WORK to get noticed. I’m so glad GaGa came into the music world. She’s amazing. I’m so glad Britney came into the music world. She’s amazing. They OBVIOUSLY have a very mutual respect of each other. GaGa’s charitable donations and activism are no less important because they happen to be “publicized”. It’s just sad people discredit GaGa’s hard earned place. Perhaps it is you who should read up on GaGa’s break into the industry, which was a break into it. The Mickey Mouse Kids were all dialed up for fame. It was easier for Britney FOR SURE. There’s no question there.

    • jj says:

because britney doesnt brag what she helped! if your american, you will never forget that britney donated for the 9/11 attack!

    • Tina says:

Britney is without a doubt a living legend. Without thinking hard I bet you can describe at least 6 of her videos and 3 of her performances – and you’re not a fan.

    • rOXy says:

@baroness – Gaga is not, and will never be, the kind of star Britney is. In ten years, Gaga will be remembered for her fail, if she is remembered at all. She will not dominate the music scene then, or even in between, because she is not dominating it now. She is a fraud and the biggest joke ever to be played on the public, and brainwashed sheep who have minds like puddy are the ones who are buying into her hype. She is fail, even on the show the other night, when she and Britney were standing next to eachother, Gaga was eclipsed by Britney’s brilliance. Britney even suppressed a shudder at the thought of kissing that freak. Britney will forever be remembered among the ranks of the greatest and brightest superstars like Elvis, Marilyn, Elizabeth and Michael. I get so tired of little monsters whining every time Britney or her achievements are recognized. “But whaaaaadabout Gaaagaaaaaaa…wahhhh”

hmmm…I heard MTV’s ratings were one of their highest. It feels like once again MTV has used Britney to increase their viewership. Idk, I’m just saying.

  10. Hannah says:

@AmandaMarie I don’t listen to Gaga but I don’t hate her. For me personally it isn’t how much they have done but for how long. If Gaga is around in 10 years making music, working with charity and activism then we can start comparing her to Britney.

  11. JCZ says:

As great and spectacular and influential (Bad romance anyone) Slave 4 U is and the dancing that matches Thriller or Bad as one of, if not the greatest dance video…

I still LOVE the choreography of Me Against The Music.

Slave 4 U and MATM are two completely different songs and each choreography matches the sound of each song. But no one, and I mean NO ONE in the game could’ve danced like Britney from 2001-2005.
No one could’ve pulled off the tight and perfect, in synch dancing that B did in MATM and every performance of the song.

It blows my mind that it was possible. Backup dancers are usually better than the performer, except MJ of corse, but I’m still stunned and impressed that dancers can do the MATM choreography. This is a great tribute! I’m sure Brit is more pleased with this than the VMAs.

Now all I can watch is performances of MATM and the music clip. Whilst the editing is a cuts are a bit much for the video, it really is so freaking amazing. Yeah, I’m obsessed with it, OK!? I mean, Brit has been shunned from the VMAs since her debut (Toxic, Baby One More Time, Stronger, Oops!, MATM & definitely Slave 4 U) and all MTV did was hand her 3 awards, which she still deserved, to draw ratings after the Gimme More incident. Yeah she has earned 2 more plus the Lifetime award since then… but I still hate the VMAs for those reasons… and well, Brit hasn’t performed since.

I’m gonna say it, but I do wish Brit went back to the dancing era of Britney/In The Zone. I miss it, we all miss it whether we admit it or not.
Just give the girl her freedom, her artistic control and in return make her dance!

  12. Missy says:

Am I missing something? How is doing the choreography from one of her songs a “tribute”? As short as the VMA one was, at least it actually covered more of her career.

    • Trent Trent says:

@Missy — “Am I missing something? How is doing the choreography from one of her songs a “tribute”?”

trib·ute   [trib-yoot] noun 1. a gift, testimonial, compliment, or the like, given as due or in acknowledgment of gratitude or esteem.

  13. ariel says:

now everybody gets called a legend, soon gaga and bieber will be called “legend”. i think britney is great but not a legend not now at least!!… those than mean that christina and justin timberlake are legends too? cause i rather call brit a legend than any of those.

  14. baroness says:

@ tina – you are right, I can remember some of her performances – the one that sticks out would be the one were she couldn’t even lip-synch her own song at the VMA’s ?- that’s some truly living legend talent she’s got. I know that’s harsh, but it’s 100% true. I think the fact that she lip-synchs should automatically dis-qualify her for living legend status. Also, does being around ten years now mean that you are a pillar in the music community now? I admit she has a few nice songs but what else does she bring to the table? Please educate me

    • Trent Trent says:

@baroness — But just because YOU don’t like her music or agree that she is important doesn’t make it so. A lot of people do not like Britney Spears and take great pleasure in trying to revile and shoot her down … and nothing says you’ve made it, you are a bonafide superstar than that fact alone.

      • baroness says:

I do like some of her songs ( that not yet a woman song pops into my head every few months out of nowhere? ) and I do admit she is important ( since I’m writing this I can’t argue with that )but I guess I just don’t get it. I have no real problems with her other than the fact that she lip-synchs. If she didn’t lip-synch I could probably give her more credit. When i saw that little Chris brown creep flying all over I was impressed. Then I found out he lyp-synched…. and it negated everything.

      • Trent Trent says:

@baroness — Fact: Michael Jackson lipsynced, Madonna lipsyncs, Janet Jackson lipsyncs … many pop stars do.

  15. baroness says:

Fact: many people doing something wrong doesn’t make it right or acceptable. M lipsynching just makes me sad. I still do consider her a “living legend” though? Till next time …

    • JCZ says:

Hell even the great singers lip-synch. Christina did it at the VMAs for Keeps Getting Better. Mariah has done it countless times. And even Beyonce did it.. at the OSCARS of all places.

Now excuse all the bullshizz that comes out of Gaga’s mouth for just a second, her singing heavily over a backup track counts as lip-synching for me. I’ve watched that tour video and it personally sounds to me, a lot of the time the backup track is at least 70% compared to her vocals.

There’s no denying Gaga can sing, I’ve seen her at a piano before. But the fact that she rambles on about something pisses me off. She deliberately talking about in on the tour video specifically cause she is being filmed. The mass will see and think she is a saint. I’m just waiting for the day she does lip-synch a whole song and gets caught out, cause she is such a hypocrite.
Beyonce + Gaga fans… just cause your precious gods have a great range, doesn’t mean singing and dancing primarily to a backup track is more acceptable than lip-synching.

Eh I guess its the way the entertainment business has turned. I’ve seen videos of Brit on FF Tour and we can she is singing with backup. Now I don’t care about this, just like I don’t care that Gaga and Bey sing the same way. But I hate how those artists like Gaga think they’re gods gift, yet they’re singing with backup. It does bother me though when one person is trashing lipsynching and those entertainers, yet they’re still singing with backup.. makes no sense to me.

Lipsynching, backup or 100% live – who cares? If you love the artist, support them. Its what Brit fans have done for so long. And well, its not like Brit fans were fans to a lipsyncher from Day 1, heck she only started during the Britney-era on tour. The previous tours were live from my understanding.
And Gaga can put on a good show, sometimes, just keep the opinions to yourself before making a fool of yourself. You make the payment for ticket and in most cases know what your gonna get for an artist like Brit or Gaga cause you’ve either seen them live before or heard of YouTube – so most people go with expectations that they know of.

Alternatively, all artists can perform like Xtina. Lipsynch at the VMAs but for everything else, use real back up singers, not a track.

Am I the only one that noticed the Detroit Red Wings hat? That makes this video that much better. I love that her crew has good taste. <3

  17. Kalub says:

All my people in the crowd!!!! Great job dancers!!! So much love and dedication.
Mtv however is about lame. Michael Jackson would have been horrifed. He was so big, fo grand, so royal. Jusy like Britney. Therefore with MJ’s name involved, the two hour show should have a jam packed Britney Spears event. I was so disapointed i could have i could have screamed. It’s ok though our queen is still young and has alot of time to perform her talents! I love you Britney. You were absolutely stunning that night, where you showed up, and showed out. Only a queen would have the class you did that night!

  18. Kalub says:

Lady gay guy is such a horrible mis representative for the gays. It makes me sick to hear her. Mother monster my ass. She is trying to reinvent the wheel here. Born this way? Really??? I was’nt sure.
