Watch: Britney Spears Announces That ‘Criminal’ Will Be Her Next Single

MTV News managed to sit down with Britney Spears after the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards last night and they asked her to reveal which song off her latest album Femme Fatale will be released as her next single. As you can see in the video below, it sounds a bit like Britney wasn’t supposed to spill the beans but she clearly couldn’t help herself. The mid-tempo balled Criminal, according to Britney, has been chosen as her next single.
I agree with Britney that the song is different, unique. Some folks LOVE the track, others do not … it’s a bold choice for a single release. I love that she’s already got plans for the song’s music video. To be honest, Criminal wouldn’t be my personal choice as her next single release but I can totally dig it. I can’t wait to see what Britney has in store for us next. What do y’all think of Criminal as a new single? Are you a fan of the song … or?

I do like the song…. but I had it on in my car and my hubby got in one day and he started singing along with it, except saying “I can ride my bike with no handlebars.” So every time I hear it I think of that! lol.

i’m excited, I really love this song and it has been such a long time since britney released a single that was this ballad-ish (someday i will understand?). I suspect it won’t chart as well as other songs off of FF might… but I am definitely excited to have a video for this song.

It was either this or Inside Out. In my opinion, Drop Dead (Beautiful) is good but it’s repetitive and Sabi, in my opinion, RUINS it… I would love How I Roll because it’s cute, but I think the most underrated track on Femme Fatale is Seal it with a Kiss – that song is SO amazingly good.
I LOVE How I Roll, it’s my fave of the cd. I do really like Criminal and I couldn’t agree with you more on Drop Dead (Beautiful), Sabi just ruins that.

Hey trent what would have been your choice? i think a change of pace is needed, she has had like 10 uptempos in a row lol i think Criminal could be more of an album seller and could get her some recognition, hopefully the video is like a mini movie

wow SIWAK is my least favorite track from the album, guess thats what happens when u made a flawless work of art and any song is someones favorite :D

Big mistake. Love the album but that song would’ve been my last choice. It’s such a yawn.
as someone whos not a huge fan of the album….i think she should have gone with Inside Out…i think thats the type of song, pretty much everyone could and would enjoy. criminal is a bold choice, but i dont think it was the right choice, maybe as a 5th or even a 6th single…but with TTWE & I Wanna Go, being such strong singles, they should have followed with another strong song ..and Criminal just isnt that strong of a song.
Inside Out wouldve been my pick, I love Criminal though. I would like to selfish too! :-)

Normally I just can’t stand Britney’s ballads, but I do like Criminal. Especially cuz it has that Miles-Away-by-Madonna vibe and feel and sound to it. Though I woulda chosen Trouble For Me as the next single.
That is the only song on the album I don’t like. I hear the beginning and just cringe. Think “Inside Out” would have been my choice!

Personally, I love the fact that theyre not just jumping on the IO bandwagon. Criminal is so different, that it could work really well. Personally Im super gay and would just loooove Up N Down. :O)

Good choice I say…it was supposably tween IO and DDB so I’m glad this is outta left field. I knew from the beginning criminal was different and edgy enough to be a single, movie soundtrack quality IMO. I LOVE SIWAK think Trouble and Trip are the weakest…course if I had my way “He about to lose me” and “Up n’ down” would be next :D
