‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Releases Character Photos
Meet the new Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist

Earlier we got our first listen of the first new music from the US version of the Swedish film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and right now we get to see a couple of character photos from the film. The film’s official website has not only been updated with new music, created by Trent Reznor, but it also features a whole SLEW of character bios and promo photos. Click below to see the photos of the film’s main protagonists Lisbeth Salander (played by Rooney Mara) and Mikael Blomkvist (played by Daniel Craig).

I love how stark and no frills these photos are. I can’t get over how unrecognizable Rooney Mara is in costume as Lisbeth. I love the original Girl, played by Noomi Rapace, but I really think Rooney will bring something different from the character. I am so damn excited about this film, I can barely stand the wait. December will get here fast, I know, but thinking about the wait until this movie is released seems eternal.

Sooo funny, I’m watching TV and they showed some clips AND a bit of music from the movie. I got excited, and went to share the info and who but YOU has this up at the very same time! I can’t wait to see (and hear) more.

Seen the original which was phenomenal, but I am wondering if I should read the books before this one comes out???

    • Christie says:

Yes you should, I am about 100 pages from the end of the second one and have the third one all ready to go. They are good and it is always better to read the book before the movie :)

YES! I loved the books. Though be warned books are almost always better than the movies…

I think rooney mara looks pretty close to what I imagined lisbeth would look like while reading the books. However, I didn’t imagine Daniel Craig as blomkvist. I really don’t know what I imagined him looking like, but Daniel Craig is not it. Maybe/hopefully watching him in the role will change my mind.

While I thought the actor in the first films was great, I saw Blomkvist as more Daniel Craig than that actor. Since he beds so many women, he would have to be a hot man. The original actor seemed too average to be getting that much action…and I noticed they cut out some of his relationships in those films.

love love love the original trilogy… not sure why but i’m quite hesitant about the american version… i just can’t get on board completely. Feel like they’re just gonna mess up like Hollywood does with 90% of its remakes… I’ll approach cautiously…

The book is getting good! I can now see Rooney as Lisbeth… Also, Trent, have you started reading the books yet?

I really think Noomi Rapace set the standard for Lisbeth; the two are synonymous in my mind ever since I saw the subtitled first film at the one cinema in my area playing it. She nailed Lisbeth’s paranoid stance, the harsh and rough edges, and I just don’t think Rooney is going to have the same sharpness to her. Lisbeth needs to radiate dysfunctionality and keen intellect, the razor blade quality that makes her so dangerous and admirable. Rooney Mara, though very lovely and versatile as an actress, doesn’t have me feeling it yet.

I have watched all the Swedish movie versions of the books. I am anxious to see what us Americans do in terms of interpretation of the books. Thanks for sharing! Noomi Rapace is in the new Sherlock Holmes film…weird! And Rooney Mara was in the Facebook movie. Funny!
