First Look: ‘My Week With Marilyn’ Releases A First Movie Poster
Coming Soon

Last week we got to see the latest promo image released for the upcoming film My Week with Marilyn which stars actress Michelle Williams in the role of the iconic Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe … today we get to see the first movie poster for the film. The image of Michelle as Marilyn in this new poster is very similar to the last promo photo we got to see last week, check out the poster in full below.

In the early summer of 1956, 23 year-old Colin Clark, just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, the film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe, who was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Arthur Miller. When Arthur Miller leaves England, the coast is clear for Colin to introduce Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life; an idyllic week in which he escorted a Monroe desperate to get away from her retinue of Hollywood hangers-on and the pressures of work. Michelle Williams plays the iconic Marilyn Monroe alongside a fantastic British cast including Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson and Julia Ormond. The film chronicles a week in the life of Marilyn Monroe in which she escapes the shackles of her Hollywood career and embraces British life with Colin Clark. Directed by Simon Curtis and produced by David Parfitt, the film is based on Colin Clark’s diaries and has been adapted for the screen by Adrian Hodges.

Ok, ok … I’m intrigued. The more I hear about this film, the more interested I am in seeing it. Deep down, tho, I do not totally believe that Michelle will be able to do Marilyn justice but I’m hopeful I’m wrong. It seems like this film is being touted as an awards favorite … but, we’ll see about that.

I was skeptical but the more I see her the more I think she can do it!! She can be very soft, think Brokeback Mountain, and demure so she might nail this one. The story line sounds awesome. I am actually excited to see this film.

This has flop written all over it.

A flop and a miscast one at that. Michele Williams is so overrated and she’s no MM.

Is it just me or does that bodyguard look like Seth Meyers from afar?

  7. Lauri says:

I think people are thinking of Marilyn’s PUBLIC persona, which would be hard for Williams to do. “Escaping her Hollywood shackles…” I feel like the ‘real life’ Monroe would stil be sexy as all else, but more down to earth, more Williams-esque. I have much faith.

I agree with you that this seems to be less about her reality in and among Hollywood but rather more about her personal reality which wouldn’t be what we’d expect. In Hollywood she was selling a persona and not her self. Yes, she was sexy but there was more to her outside of being her typecast. Less “Seven Year Itch” more “River of No Return” in that there was a certain desperation to her personal reality.

I think Michelle is an outstanding actress, but JUST NO! Of all the sexy, talented women in Hollywood, this is the best Marilyn they could do? Scarlett Johansson would have been PERFECT.

Michelle looks amazing in this role.
