First Look: MTV Releases The First Footage From ‘The Hunger Games’
OMG OMG OMG

On Tuesday we learned that MTV will be premiering the first video footage from the much-anticipated film The Hunger Games during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night and today we get our first glimpse of that footage. Click below to check out the just-released promo video for this Sunday night’s VMAs that features a quick glimpse at the Hunger Games footage that will be shown this weekend. YOU MUST WATCH THIS NOW!!!

Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once existed, THE HUNGER GAMES follows the quest of “Tributes” – one teenage boy and girl chosen from each of the country’s twelve districts – as they compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for the Hunger Games their entire lives, the main character, Katniss, is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. Lionsgate will release the film on March 23, 2012.

The “2011 MTV Video Music Awards” is set to light LA on fire with an impressive line-up of announced performers that includes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Young The Giant. Additionally, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Zoe Saldana, Kevin Hart and Victoria Justice join Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, and JB Smoove from HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as confirmed presenters. Jessie J was also announced as VMA house artist.

THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The book was the first in Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy, which has over 12 million copies in print in the United States alone, and has developed a global following. Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES on March 23, 2012.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence will be on hand herself to debut this footage AND I CANNOT WAAAAAIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!! This little snippet is awesome … it looks like she’s competing in The Hunger Games and is looking up at one of those hovercoper things. I hope the clip we get to see is at least 30 seconds long. Sunday cannot get here fast enough for me. As I keep saying, this year’s MTV VMAs are MUST SEE! Tune in LIVE Sunday night at 9pm ET, y’all!!
