Big Glee casting news to pass along today … late yesterday it was reported that actor Chord Overstreet has been ousted as a series regular on the hit Fox series. Altho he hasn’t been fired from the show, he is no longer a series regular character … which means he’ll prolly feature in a few eps for the entire season. In happier news, actors Darren Criss and Harry Shum, Jr. have been bumped up to series regular castmembers on Glee. It’s a case of good news/bad news for Glee fans courtesy of Ryan Murphy. First the good: Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) have officially been upgraded to full-time series regulars, effective this fall with the start of Season 3. And now for the bad… Chord Overstreet’s series regular option has not been picked up. However, a source close to the show says the actor — who joined the Fox hit last fall in the recurring role of McKinley transfer student Sam Evans — could return as an occasional guest star … The news comes two weeks after series creator Ryan Murphy raised eyebrows when he told Ryan Seacrest that most of the show’s primary characters would graduate by the end of next season. “The show to me is about the way you express yourself as you start to move out into the world as a fresh, young person,” he later clarified to Deadline’s sibling site TVLine. “Do we really want to have an eight-year [high school] senior? The only way somebody could stay on the show is if they flunk, and that is always a possibility. I think Brittany is pulling straight Fs.”
Ugh … poor Chord. I mean, yes technically he’s still on the show … but we won’t see much of him … and he knows that. Yesterday he posted this message to fans on his official Twitter profile:

I’m glad that Darren Criss and Harry Shum, Jr. will be more regularly featured on the show (tho, it kinda already feels like they have been heavily featured on the show already) but it’s a bummer that Chord is getting phased out. His poor character Sam … first he becomes homeless … then he finally gets a great girlfriend in Mercedes … now he’s gonna be squeezed out of the glee club :( Ah well. What do y’all think? Darren needs to get off the show. I don’t like Chord either so that’s good to hear to. I’m not even sure why Harry’s still on the show… He’s not funny and his dancing doesn’t make the show any more interesting, not to mention he can’t sing.

I am not a fan of Blaines acting or the storyline with Kurt. I did like the the developing love affair between Sam and Mercedes and the homeless storyline.
WHO WILL LOVE MERCEDES?!!? WTF?!!? I’m kinda really bummed out about this… They have 1093871297 people on the show, why not keep him on as well? Lame sauce! I like Blain and Mike so I’m happy for them though :)

Don’t really have a preferece about Harry/Mike, he’s nice but I would be happier that he was staying if we found out more about him.
i think this absolutly sucks! Sam Evans is my favourite character on the show and plus before glee i never knew he existed and now im absolutly in love with him. THIS SUCKS!!
I love Mike – he’s such a cutie and a fucking AMAZING dancer so I’m glad he’ll be more regular. And of course Blaine is a total doll so I’m glad for that too. I can take or leave Chord Overstreet so I don’t really care that he’s almost right off the show.
i think people are so negative honestly season 2 was better with Blaine in the show i wud hav perfer him in all episode it was more lively everyone has there opinions im sorry to say they made the right choice by keeping him and i am sorry for chord to go or even be in less episode mayb the new writers didnt see a story for him so many people take anger on darren criss but somehow not harry i think its childness and i really hate people saying bad things about actors unless things are true also not the fault the coice is made u live with it every shows u hav your favorites go out never return or even shows end it will be a loss but u get over it i have so will some of u
NO WAY Finn is the (one of) the stars of the show… if he were gone there would be no show… there soooo LUCKY that they found Cory Monteith
this sucks i dont want them to end they should either show them in college at reunnions or show them over summer!!!!!!!!!!! as for chord overstreet i thoight he was alreay a part of the cast and should be with the way he looks ;) and if hes not in it imma cry because i dont waant there to be a samcdes i live evansberry/samchel!!!!!!!! if he does havve to move they should show them on facebook or video chatting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also i think a faberbrittanna friendship is needed (quinn rachel brittnay and santana) and i dont like finns character he to cocky!!!1 him and rachel should break up p.s sorry for writing so much p.p.s i would like rachel popular or a cheerio!!!!!1 p.p.p.s or a puckleberry fnchel suxs!!!!!!!!!!!pppps lol this even bout chord overstreet :P
Firstly, while I don’t care much for Finn’s character, the acting is pretty good, and his songs are AWESOME. So there’s no question to me – he needs to stay.
Secondly, Darren Criss is one of the best male vocals in the show, and he better effing stay, because Kurt needs him, too. Just as an exmple, Kurt would know NOTHING about sex if it weren’t for Blaine, and speaking of that, Kurt would still be deeply conflicted about who he has and how to deal with all the bullying. Honestly, I think Kurt’s situation would be a TON worse if Blaine hadn’t entered the picture.
Thirdly, I don’t know much about Mike, but he’s a really amazing dancer. I think his dancing DOES bring a lot to the show, because when you DO see him dance, it’s pretty awe-inspiring. I could see his dancing scoring them points at Nationals or something along those lines. I’m glad, too, that we’ll get to see more of him. I think it’s cool that he’ll be getting a shot to put himself in the big league(:
Finally, I DID love Sam. He seemed to be really honest with his girlfriends and his voice was really sweet. Unfortunately, I think he’s the practical choice for a character to leave, if one HAD to go. Artie has a specific voice type that’s perfect for a lot of good songs, including rap…and honestly, I just can’t see Finn pulling off Jay-Z’s Blame It. lol Puck is the bad-boy character, and you KNOW they won’t get rid of him without a fight.
All in all, I’m happy with this decision, though I wish they weren’t dropping ANYONE. I guess they have to make room for whoever wins The Glee Project. (Hoping it’s Cameron or Medais.)

I live a Darren Criss appreciation life so I am not even going to comment on what I think of Blaine staying…
…I do, however, wish Chord had been picked up, too. He and Mercedes would’ve been an interesting thing to behold and I liked his character a lot.
