Last night Darion, his friends Courtney, Chris, Christina and I met up at The Troubadour to see Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester LIVE in concert. After collaborating with Cobra Starship on the single Good Girls Gone Bad and after her starring role in Country Strong (where she played a singer), it sounds like Leighton is ready to emabark on a music career. As I understand it, Leighton has been working with the band Check in the Dark on new music and last night she performed her first concert here in LA. I have to be completely honest here … the show wasn’t as strong as it could’ve been. Leighton seemed a bit nervous on stage, as she should be considering it was her first concert performance, but she really gave it her all. I commend her for following her dreams and doing the music thing. Not only has seen been writing new music with her band but she’s also, apparently, learning to play guitar as well:

While the music was a bit too Country for my tastes, I did enjoy seeing Leighton in action. If she is serious about her music, it can only get better. Here is video of her performance of the song Dreaming from last night’s show:

As far as I could tell, the sold out house was very happy with her performance. Leighton got a bit of support from her Gossip Girl co-star Michelle Trachtenberg (who plays Georgina Sparks on GG) who came out for the show last night. All in all … it was a fun night out.

Tonight, David and I will be making our way to the Gibson Amphitheater to see Janelle Monáe and Bruno Mars in concert. We’re really only going for Janelle but we may stick around for Bruno, too ;) Happy Tuesday!!
