Movie Review: ‘Transformers: Dark Of The Moon’
The TV Guide

After suffering thru the atrociousness of the absolutely HORRENDOUS Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I was certain that I would never pay to see another Transformers film. But, after seeing the teaser trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon last December, I was convinced the new film would be better … cuz there was no way it could be worse. Yesterday, I made my way out to the Arclight Theater to see T3 and found that, for the most part, I enjoyed the movie. Oh, it’s not without it’s HUGE faults but overall … I did like the flick.

Let’s get the negative stuff out of the way. There are KEY plot points in this film that are just plain stupid. Like, DUMB. Much of the writing is pretty bad … I saw T3 in the Dome at the Arclight and I’d say that 90% of the jokes generated NO laughter at all. That the ending is abrupt was annoying but the way that the film’s resolution came about was so laughably bad, I damn near fell out of my chair. If we are supposed to believe that Megatron — the vicious leader of the Decepticons — could be “talked into” taking action by a skinny human girl then the Transformers writers truly think we are morons. But … absent these really terrible things about the movie, the action and FX more than makes up for the its shortcomings. Let’s be real, people do not go see Transformers for the writing, acting and/or plot development. If you turn your brain off for a bit, you can really enjoy Dark of the Moon. I did enjoy the inventive way that history is utilized in the storyline. From the moon landing, to the Chernobyl disaster, real events from our recent history are “explained” in T3 … in a very clever way, I must say. If I had to rank them, I’d say the first Transformers film is the best of the 3 … followed by Dark of the Moon … and Revenge of the Fallen doesn’t even rank — it’s that crappy. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is, for the most part, a fun film with a lot of eye candy (some of it filmed in my beloved Detroit, MI btw). I enjoyed it … way more than I hated it :)

I will enjoy seeing it by what you have said and ignore the acting. I’m confused tho..some ppl are calling transformers dark side of the moon or just dark of the moon, I am wondering if they released both titles? Hmmm. Anywho, I am only going to go see it for Optimus Prime and Bumblebee :)

TRENT! I need to know from you, specifically – Do you think Rosie is better-looking than Megan or vice versa? Also, which one do you think is better at acting? I’m curious, broski!

@Chase — I think both “actresses” are equally pointless in these movies. They are used only for their sex appeal, on that account, they do a good job. Rosie looks hot in every scene. But both Rosie and Megan are totally pointless in these films.

Are you kidding me??? The second transformers movie was greaaaat!!!!! And the third one is just awesome. I love all three of them. Bumblebee made me cry like twice lol. I think the movie is genius if you make people cheer, worry and ever cry over the machines. Looooooovee itttt

ok one thing that still bugs me is that Rosie’s runnning, jumping, hanging, sliding down from a building, rolling etc wearing those high heels… in the end the shoes’ in perfect condition. And there’s also DEEP WANG.

I turned by brain off when I saw T2 and it DID NOT HELP! I hope this one won’t be nearly as painful to watch.

I can not wait to see this!! Only problem is I think my 4 yar old will disown me if he finds out I saw it without him! He thinks he is Optimus or that he has transformers in his head that tell him not to clean his room!

i quite liked the movie, though there were a few scenes were I was like ummmm what is the point of this?? shia always makes me LOL during his freakout scenes!! and i wanted to like Rosie soooo much cause I think she is so gorgeous but it was just the wrong character! she was so posh and pretty much a model, at least megan fox’s character had a bit of attitude!! I also loved that mr Chow made an apperance hahaha!!

Did anyone else notice the way Centinal (sp?) Prime didn’t know anything and needed to learn from Optimus then quickly told the head of the NSA lady how far along her physics were. When she figured out they could teleport, he dismissed her as dumb. The next scene he rejects Optimus’ heart chrystal thing and says he needs to learn all about earth from him. I still can’t get figure out if that was a clue that Centinnal knew about the earth since he was supposed to meet Megatron here or if they just didn’t go back over the script and catch that.
