That story about a Russian woman dying at her own funeral is crazy! My condolences to her family, but I feel like Hollywood will be making a movie about this soon…
How is the funeral thing possible? Like someone on the page commented…don’t they drain bodies of fluid and embalm them prior to the funeral?

@Missy — “don’t they drain bodies of fluid and embalm them prior to the funeral?” No, many cultures do not drain the body and find the Western practice of doing so barbaric. Other cultures also bury bodies very quickly, within 24 hours of death.
Trent is right. Some countries (like Romania, etc.) have villages so isolated that the “modern world” is terrifying to those living there. Not only is embalming practically unheard of, but autopsies are as well. Hell, if sudden “illness” breaks out AFTER a funeral the citizens blame it on… a vampire! They dig up the recently deceased, drive a stake through it’s heart & cut off the head, then burn the remains. I kid you not.

On a lighter note, has ANYONE seen TLC’s new series from England, ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ – Now there’s culture shock! Traditions among Irish & Romany Gypsies that haven’t changed for 300 YEARS! Girls engaged at around 14, married before they’re 20 (older than that they’re considered “old maids”) & definitely NO SEX before marriage even though the girls do party hard before the wedding, dressed… well, see it for yourselves. And afterwards the girls literally stay at home: cooking, cleaning, “taking care” of their men & making babies. You might say, “What?! No sex… yeah, right.” That’s because of chaperones. Yep. Chaperones.

It got me wondering if North America has Gypsies living here… I really didn’t want to watch it (lets face it: TLC has some really weird shows), but I was bored so I did. I’m completely addicted to it. It’s really amazing.
