Author JK Rowling sent Harry Potter fans into a TIZZY yesterday with the launch of a new website called Pottermore. Altho there is absolute NO official information about the site, it has been sniffed out that Pottermore may become a sort of official online portal for Harry Potter fans. A representative for Rowling insists that the site has nothing to do with a new book or the final Harry Potter film to be released next month. HMMM. Click below to read some speculative commentary on what JK Rowling may have in store for us.

J.K. Rowling has a new website … The site, Pottermore.com, is a new project for the “Harry Potter” author, spokeswoman Rebecca Salt said Thursday. The site is “not a new book” and “not directly related” to the final Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which comes out next month, she said. “We aren’t saying any more than that!” Salt said. “Pottermore” was trademarked in 2009 by Warner Bros., which distributes the Potter movies. The trademark description of Pottermore suggests an interactive site “providing on-line chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards” and “on-line facilities for real-time interaction with other computer users concerning topics of general interest.” The site itself reveals little beyond a scrawled message from the author that reads “Coming soon …”. Rowling already has a personal website, at http://www.jkrowling.com. Pottermore.com also has a Twitter account, twitter.com/pottermore, and a YouTube countdown clock, which projects an author announcement for early Thursday, June 23. News of Pottermore.com emerged Wednesday night with messages sent to nine Potter fan sites and an official Potter Twitter account. Each site received one letter, the letters spelling out “pottermore.” A leading Potter fan site, http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org, alleges that it has seen “a preview of Pottermore and it is, in a word, breathtaking.” “That is all we are permitted to say at the moment.”
HMMM … “breathtaking”, eh? We’ll have to see about that. The name Pottermore implies that there is more Potter to be had. If we aren’t getting a new book and the site is not directly related to the final HP film, then maybe the site will be a storehouse of previously unseen Potter materials that JK Rowling is ready to share with the world? One things for sure, Potter fans will be keepin’ their eyes peeled for any and all information to come about/from Pottermore. Any guesses what JK has in store for us? Are you excited?

I can’t wait to see what this is going to be! PART 2 CAN’T BE THE END!!!!
Wonder if it will be an online world game for people to interact Sim style, or WOW style, in the Potter-verse.
Oh good Lord I hope so, please let it be so <3
Very excited about this! Hopefully it’s creative
I think it will be a Harry Potter encyclopedia that she has talked about in the past!
@Megan — Oh, good guess!
She said it wasn’t a book. THAT she said. Unless the Scottish books ends up not being a book at all. Hm.
I think it could be an RPG for Potterheads. CANT WAIT!!!!
whatever it is, i think this is going to keep me from ending it all the day the last film comes out since i havent known what life is like without harry potter in it since i was 10 =X
A bunch of Potter fansites were given a preview of POTTERMORE, and they all have said similar things. But the best part about this the way the “teaser” was revealed. Secret Street View? She gave 10 secret coordinates through 10 different Potter fan sites. Once you put the coordinates on http://www.secretstreetview.com, you had to zoom to street view, where you would see a letter. The 10 letters were an anagram for POTTERMORE.
I went crazy. Everyone thought it was “MORE POTTER” at first, LOL. It was very reminiscent of the times when JKR used to put riddles and hidden signs on her website for fans to figure out. Oh man. I was 4 hours straight in my computer, just waiting for the next secret coordinate to be revealed. It was FANTASTIC!
I prefer HP Lexicon
I think maybe another book is coming detailing the antics of all their children (i.e. Ginny & Harry’s kids, Ron & Hermione’s, Luna’s, George’s) or maybe a pre-quel book with the adventures of their parents when they fought Voldemort the first time? I would be super excited about either of those scenarios!
I always wondered how George fared without Fred. I have a really hard time picturing one without the other. :(
It’s not a book.
Maybe an online virtual community for Sim-Wizard Kids?
I have a lot of ideas of what I think the site maybe, but I truly trust JK to genuinely surprise and inspire me. I Can Not Wait!!! I need a countdown clock for my desktop.
