Last month we learned that Stanley Tucci was being considered for a role in the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games and today we learn, officially, that he has been cast in the film. Rumors were flying that Tucci was going to play anything from Cinna to President Snow … but today we are hearing that Stanley Tucci has been cast in the role of Caesar Flickerman! In addition, two newcomer actors have been cast as the tributes from District 9 … according to the official Facebook profile for the film. Stanley Tucci will play Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games for Lionsgate. Flickerman is the TV host of the deadly Hunger Games, who interviews all of the 24 tributes from the 12 districts and creates drama and sympathy for them among the TV viewing public. Gary Ross is directing the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel.

Brilliant, brilliant casting! In my imagination, I saw Caeser as a larger man … but I can totally see Tucci in the role. He will make an excellent Flickerman. I wholeheartedly approve of his casting. There are still the tributes from District 1 and 10 to be cast … plus quite a few fairly big adult roles. But, I gotta say, I’m very happy with the way casting is turning out. What do y’all think? Is Stanley Tucci the image of Caesar Flickerman you had in mind?
