Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA to catch an early showing of The Hangover Part II. Because I had an important concert to attend last night, I wanted to see the film before the weekend took hold and I missed seeing it altogether. Going into seeing this movie, I honestly wasn’t expecting very much. Everything I heard was that Part II was pretty much exactly like the original film … but set in Bangkok. I have to say, there really wasn’t anything new in the sequel that made it any better … but if you enjoyed The Hangover, chances are you will also enjoy The Hangover Part II.

I have to say … the movie was only incidentally funny. Someone gets hurt — laugh. Someone get’s a face tattoo — laugh. The monkey does something funny — laugh. But all the written jokes fell totally flat. The entire theater we were in was mostly silent for most of the film. I, personally, didn’t find many of the jokes funny but I didn’t hate the film. You deffo know what you’re in for before you even step foot in the theater … on that account, the movie does not disappoint. I guess I was expecting some change in the formula in this sequel to make it more interesting … but it was pretty much the same exact movie all over again … right down to the photo montage at the end with the credits. Was I entertained? Yes, mildly. Did I hate the film? Not really. Is it a great movie? I can’t say that it is … but, again, I think most people will know if they will like the film before they even seen the film. If you think you will enjoy The Hangover Part II, then you prolly will. If you think you won’t, you won’t.
Did any of y’all see The Hangover Part II yet? What did YOU think?

I really wish they would have let Justin Bartha’s character, Doug, in on the fun more this time around.
The Hangover Part 2 is a racist film that discriminates against Asians. I say we Asians show Hollywood that we won’t tolerate their racist bullshit any longer.
Here is a website I created to protest movies like the Hangover Part 2:

The site is meant to be used as a petition. Please comment on the site to promise that you will not watch the Hangover Part 2.
I couldn’t get through the first one, so I doubt I’ll even see the second. I wouldn’t spend $15 to see it at the movies anyway.
I agree. I was hoping for belly aching laughs. And rarely got it
TEAM BRIDESMAIDS! I didn’t even find the first Hangover funny (in fact, it was stupid and Superbad OWNS that film) so I am not going to see this one. No thank you! Trent, have you seen Bridesmaids yet? You will LOVE it!
I totally disagree! I was laughing the whole time. Granted some of it was a little too obvious but the characters are played perfectly. Ken Jeong’s Mr. Chow is the funniest thing since Martin Short’s Franck. Brilliant. It draws too many comparisons to the first and while it may not be an original it is a good movie on it’s own, not meant to be taken too seriously and a few good laughs to pass the time.
Completely agree with you Listen. I was dying of laughter every time Mr. Chow was on screen. I went in not expecting much and was really happy with the outcome. Similar premise of the other movie but still fun.
Also I saw Bridesmaids and didn’t think it was that funny. The movie was just too awkward for me. In all honesty I liked the hangover 2 better.
I’m so happy to see I’m not the only one who didn’t find Bridesmaids funny — at all.
But I also expected more out of Hangover II. It dragged on too much in many places, especially since it was obvious what was coming. I expected it to be similar to the first; not an exact replica.
I thought Bridesmaid is funnier, if it you find it awkward, it’s probably reminding you of some of your personal struggles as a single female.
@dave: if you found hangover 2 less funny, it’s probably reminding you of some of your personal struggles as a single male.
I saw it at the midnight showing. And I walked into it not expecting a brand new film, but something extremely similar – and knowing that…I loved it. No, it wasn’t different, but I still loved it.
I can’t take this film seriously. OMFG, what are the odds we can’t remember the night before… AGAIN?!? Ugh. The first one wasn’t the funny to begin with except for the credits.
I thought it was hilarious! I knew what to expect tho and kept my standards very low. :D
i saw the movie the day it came out in Switzerland, last Wednesday and i totally loved it. The whole movie theatre was laughing out loud for the most part. I thought it was a genious movie, considering that the plot was taken from Hangover 1 and re-qritten basically, it couldve been bad, but it was even better than the first one i thought.
Jokes wise, i thought it went on a hwole different level. You laugh at it and then it gets developed even further. i usually dont like dumb jokes or dumb movies but i had a very good laugh for those 90 minutes. LOVED IT.

the new “pirates of the caribbean” on the other hand, totally sucked.
Oh really!! I was tossing up between Pirates and Hangover. Looks like I made the right choice!
