Lady Gaga has released another single from her still unreleased album Born This Way in order to generate hype for her album’s release. This new single is titled Hair and according to Gaga herself, it was inspired by Bruce Springsteen … so much so that she hired Springsteen‘s longtime saxophonist Clarence Clemmons to play on it. Saxophone in a pop song, you say? Why, yes! Click below to listen to Hair by Lady Gaga in full.

With just one week until the release of Lady Gaga‘s highly-anticipated sophomore album, the singer is releasing “Hair,” the fourth song from Born This Way. The 25-year-old singer told Ryan about the song back in February, saying it’s one of her favorite songs on the album. “Hair is a really amazing song,” said Gaga of the RedOne-produced song. “It’s a club record, but it’s sort of got this Bruce Springsteen vibe to it. I actually had Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band come in and he played saxophone on the record. It’s really interesting because [we're] putting saxophone on this really huge electronic record.” Clemons also played saxophone on Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” which she released last week. In the interview, Gaga also revealed some of the lyrics to the song:
Whenever I dress cool my parents put up a fight
And if I’m a hot shot, mom will cut my hair at night
And in the morning I’m short of my identity
I scream mom and dad, ‘Why can’t be who I want to be?’I’ve had enough, this is my prayer
That I’ll die living just as free as my hair
So you wanna hear it? Check it out below:
Again … not really my thing but I’m sure there have to be people out there who like this kind of pop music. Of the four songs we’ve heard off of Gaga‘s new album — Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory and Hair — which one is your fave? Is this album sounding like a hit to you?

To be honest, I’ve loved every new single so far!! And given her musical history, the sax solos in ‘Hair’ & ‘The Edge of Glory’ really aren’t too surprising- and, I think, were a nice touch!
[I respect everyone else's opinion, please respect mine!] :)
Album of the decade, that’s what she called it. I’m laughing my arse off right now at her for that statement. These songs seem rather bland, and are nowhere near as good as the songs she started out with. Count me out as a fan. I’ve had enough of the antics. Now pardon me while I go enjoy Adele’s music.
The Edge of Glory melts my heart every time because it was written written for her Grandpa. And it’ll admit it, I kind of dig the 80′s throwback saxo solo.
i just read where someone called this song “revolutionary”. now see, herein lies the problem gaga fans…you can like it, but to call it revolutionary shows a lack of understanding the definition of the word. it sounds like eurodisco from the 90s, has a very canned sax solo and in no way breaks any new ground. i think this is what annoys people more than anything…you fans of her music lately sound like zombies, unable to speak/think for yourselves. mama monster supposedly wants you to be free like your hair…so express YOURself…don’t just spout out what you think mama wants you to say.
if you really think it’s revolutionary, then i apologize…and you should really listen to more music! you have no idea how un-revolutionary this is…and judas, which beats i liked, she purchased that sample from another artist…who had the song out last year! that’s a bit too soon to call it retro!
but music is subjective. let her fans think its revolutionary. to them, it is. maybe they do listen to other music. but right now, at this moment, they relate to gaga and think its revolutinary for them in their present lives.
i can understand how you might thnk its annoying for her to just say her stuff is amazing bla bla. but i dont think she says shes the best relative to her other music counterparts, i think she just says, in her own opinion, that she thinks this or that song is the best shes done thus far. its her own opinion to her own creation. we dont know what kind of feelings go into the process. sure, hair sounds childish, but maybe it was a big deal for her to write. meh i guess i dont like to politicize music.
bravo for your comment, it so laughable all the lables that are put on gagas music, i love how here record company distributed a set of words to be applied to her music, (anthem, epic, revolutionary, cultural baptism!!!! etc.etc. ) my god these people need to get a clue get over yourself, you are just a mediocre pop singer and thats it.
So this is after the first listen and well, its not THAT great. It isn’t bad, but for me, this isn’t the album of the decade. I’ve said before that goes to Kanye West, so far, unless he out does himself, which is kinda does!
But Gaga songs have one problem, for me anyway, they don’t catch peoples attention straight away. They are growers. I hated Bad Romance at first and well we saw how that turned out and I do admit it is a great pop song. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Gaga song that I’ve liked instantly besides two.
Just Dance & Starstruck.
In the end its shown that the remarks Gaga makes is purely for attention and self-promotion. If K-Fed said his album would be the best of decade, of corse people will pay him attention – to laugh at him and then to check out the album to see how bad and off-track his remark would’ve been.
Same goes for Gaga – her songs aren’t bad but there not ‘revolutionary’ or the best I’ve ever heard.
Sounds like generic pop music, which most of it does. But I believe albums like Good Girl Gone Bad, FutureSex/LoveSounds (even though I hate JT) and Blackout are more revolutionary and actually pushed the boundaries of Pop music with other genres and sounded, well NEW!
very well put JCZ. I agree completely. those albums did break new(ish) ground.
the one thing i will say for these recent gaga songs, they are NOT, even remotely, ground breaking.
I’m sorry.
Good Girl Gone Bad? Blackout?! GOOD GIRL GONE BAD?!
…….da fuck…..
Right. Okay. Sorry. Nuh uh.
Yes. Good Girl Gone Bad. Yes Blackout.
Please name another artist that had released an album that sounded anything like those before them?
Yes they’re still pop music and still the same stuff played on the radio – but they blended pop music with many different genres that wasn’t really heard of in recent times.
Pop music isn’t the most inventive genre. It has developed to become a genre that steals from another and makes it POP! And then it recycles itself and steals from itself a decade later after its been gone and forgotten and then re-made FRESH!
So in terms of ‘originality’ – no they didn’t create something ORIGINAL or revolutionary that the world changed. There aren’t artists or albums like that anymore – sorry Gaga. You’re not Beatles or Michael Jackson. But they were revolutionary in the terms that people paid attention, noticed the difference and well, they set paths for other artists to ‘broaden their pop sound’ and well, people copied. (Side note: What is originality in music these days, that goes across all genres).
I’ve said it a few times how Rolling Stones are SPOT ON when saying Blackout was one of the most, if not the most ‘Influential Pop Album of the Last Decade’. I guess thats the most appropriate title for these said albums, INFLUENTIAL. No one was doing Electro/Dance music in Pop before Britney. There had been exceptions years earlier like Madonna and even Kylie Minogue. But there albums, whilst critically acclaimed and popular, never really set a path for others to follow, and how could they match that success?
Britney has almost always had that electro/dance sound. You hear the influence in her Britney album – but most noticeably was In The Zone. It’s probably her least POP album. Its so much more urban but also Euro-Dance. I believe its darker than Blackout too. When I first heard it, I remember not liking Touch of my Hand or Breathe on Me at first cause they weren’t ballads but not up-beat songs like Toxic or MATM. But after a few years, they’re such standout tracks for their production. The genre she was creating was terrific. The album has a broad market with her usual pop but urban sound and euro-dance. (I really think Brave New Girl is an amazing pop song and wish it was a single).
Toxic really was the first stepping stone for major mainstream success for dance. You saw after that a lot more of dance sound. But then came Blackout and afterwards you see Beyonce touching on dance tracks on Sasha Fierce. Ciara saw a dance influence. Lady Gaga came out. Rihanna went from her Urban/Pop acoustics to an Urban/Dance and now Pop/Dance sound. I guess you can include CONFESSIONS by Madonna aswell, Hung Up is one of the best Dance/Pop songs and also one of the best that features a heavy sample. That album was quite influential.
I’m stretching this out too far, perhaps I should start my OWN blog?! But music has and always be about personal preference and opinion. You will never shut out the haters no matter how great an album or song is. Either way, what I AM HEARING, thats MY EARS, from Gaga isn’t revolutionary or that influential on Pop Music. It sounds like the stuff we’ve been hearing since 2007. I like the Jazz vibe she has going in Hair and Edge of Glory I’ll admit that and they’re not horrible songs, but they are not revolutionary.
So my point is: Good Girl Gone Bad has an influence and so did Blackout. You saw a lot of artists – successful or somewhat successful singing similar songs. They hire the same producers after working they create something fresh and successful for another artist. RedOne does make some interesting sounds and people are going after him following Gaga’s success. J. R. Rotem saw that after working with Rihanna too. It always happens and always will.
And thinking about it, Britney has been an influence on herself in all of that aswell!
Honourable mention goes out to Back to Basics by Xtina. Not so much Influential, no one really caught on and copied it. But thats purely cause not everyone can do soul or old R&B music. Not everyone has the voice for it or image. I would say thats more Revolutionary than Influential. And just to stir the pot a little, Xtina has more Soul than Beyonce. :-)
lame.
I dont think there can be a such thing as revolutionary music anymore. There can just be GOOD music. Lady Gaga has now become someone not putting out good music like she was before. My problem is all four songs sound different. Theres no cohesive line to them that gives me any interest or insight into what the album is really all about.
Dislike, unfortunately. Damn Gaga, I really want to like what you do but honestly, every song I’ve heard so far has been such a disappointment especially since it kept getting hyped up as the album of the year and such. *Sigh*
LOL and poor Trent, everytime he posts something about Gaga all Britney and Gaga fans go ape and have these stupid little fanwars in the comment section. It’s so amusing yet annoying to read.
Ah, I agree with the last section of your comment. No matter what you say someone will most likely rip your head off, and probably because of a misunderstanding. *facepalm* LOL.
I think Judas is the best of the new songs. The rest are lackluster and generic, in my opinion.
I think the song is ok but i dont think she has the album of the decade. She still is no comparison to the great Michael Jackson who has made albums of the decade. However,i do think she is revolutionising pop culture.Shes got a different sound that shes bringing to the table and shes quiet refreshing.Shes an artist in her own right.
Just like copycat or capital G-A-G-A,
Delusional Monsters don’t like the “TRUTH”
because this sucks on another level just like that
Parrot yodeling Judas!
She’s abusing that generic hook too much, it doesn’t
even make her a great songwriter.
This song is no different to (Glee’s) Rachel Berry’s
“My Headband” or “Only Child”.
Heard it all Before GaGa…. missed the old Lady GaGa! Knew this album was going to be a bust, she is way to far up her own ass now!! Please return to the Fame GaGa we all miss and love!!
Now that she has everybody’s attention, she’s releasing stuff that never would have made her famous in a million years. Too bad the public has a shorter attention span than she thought. Music like this just makes me question her more and more.
You all sound your parents when they denounced Elton John and Madonna. Just look up when Elton John and Madonna had their first awards (Grammy…) and you will be surprised. I am an older guy and when the Beatles came out with their long Hair my Mom said, if your hair would be that long, I would get scissors and cut them off at night. Well to tell you the truth I had later shoulder long hair… . Time changes but people’s opinion never do.
Favorite of the album: Judas. Not the least bit of enamored of anything else I’ve heard from the “Born this Way” album, and I would rank “Hair” as the worst so far.
Read between the lines people. Lady Gaga’s first album detailed the odiocy of pop culture. For her, fame is a game, as well as the minds of her fans. She’s insulting her fans and then tricking people who aren’t her fans into think she’s some dumb ass. She’s not. She’s creative and intelligent and is producing shit music on purpose, in my opinion. I mean, The Fame, songs were good because the were ironic with a decent beat. Now the lyrics are blatant with a terrible beat. She has the same producer that she’s had for the past like what four or five years. She’s playing people against their own taste. It’s incredibly humorous and brilliant. Don’t scorch me for saying this – just an opinion. An artist knows when their work is bad. One of the ten dimensions of creativity – passionate but objective.

You clearly don’t get what Stefani is doing. Y’all forget how she made it big? The Fame wasn’t groundbreaking, her impact on people and pop culture was. She was a fameless New York Gogo dancer, who write an entire album about how awesomely rich and famous and popular she was, even though the reality was the complete opposite. People loved that, and suddenly it worked, she was massive.
Now she’s talking about her New Album as Epic and Album of the year material and how it makes you cry regardless of how good it actually is, because people will just nod and agree. The same way y’all did when they sent our troops to Iraq. Umm, weren’t we going to Afghanistan? Stefani knows if people want to cry, they will because she told them it’s worthy of it. Mark my words, it will be album of the year. Because Gaga is that awesome? No. Because she is smart in how she sells herself.
The era of humble is gone. The era of vanity and ego is here. To say that Gaga is revolutionary is just as absurd as saying Spears is. The difference is Stefani gets the game. She stays in the spotlight, she keeps the image up, and pow pow pow she’s taking over, while haters are pissed they didn’t think of it first, or perhaps they don’t like what the music industry is like anymore.
Gaga didn’t change the industry, she’s just exploiting it. She ain’t as important as y’all think, but look – it worked. There are more people talking about how much they hate her than lo e her. Am I the only one that sees even you are all creating buzz for her?
You’re all playing right into Stefani’s hands, and what’s really insulting is this pompous air of how much more y’all know about music, if that’s the case why don’t you get it?
I’m not saying her music is bad or good, but it’s doing what it was designed to, and pointing to a lack of sales in Judas is a sign of desperation for Gaga haters because they want so much for her to go away. The harder you push, the longer she’ll be around.
I personally think Stefani is a great artist who wouldn’t get recognized for her actual musical talent, so she invented Gaga, an icon. Now she’s working on making that happen, and you’re all tisking about how she shakes her pelvis. History repeats and she has y’all wrapped around her little finger. Hate her or Love her, it makes no difference, she’s hear to stay. And as long as she gives misunderstood teens (gay, straight, alien) a relevant voice, that isn’t going to change.
You do realize that if everyone loved her, the teen crowd wouldn’t. She needs your hate to survive. You talk about how she won’t be as big as MJ or The Beatles, then stop burning her records in the street. It’s what she wants.
And honestly you Gaga fans that are all pining for Just Dance ||. We would never have the white album if The Beatles kept doing A hard days night over and over. Fill in the references with ones you get – I don’t know Beiber or something.
That guy is fooling the world too. God I love how stupid the majority of people are. Wake Up.
I’m loving Americano!!!
Lady gaga gives everything 100% did u see her performances last night on TV? https://bitly.com/riJ94J
