Prince William & Kate Middleton Got Hitched!
Behold the Newlyweds the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge

And so … the Royal Wedding that we have been waiting for … is over. Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales — who is now the Duke of Cambridge — married the love of his life Catherine Elizabeth Kate Middleton — now the Duchess of Cambridge — in an absolutely beautiful ceremony in front of the eyes of the world. The bride wore Alexander McQueen (designed by Sarah Burton), the groom his red best … and the world watched with wonder as a real life fairytale played out for all to see. Check out below some photos and deets from the Royal Wedding of Wills and Kate and see the kiss that was so sweet, it had to be done twice.

With the eyes of the world watching, Prince William and Catherine Middleton became husband and wife Friday morning – and the newly ennobled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – at London’s Westminster Abbey. The wedding, pegged the greatest and grandest royal affair since Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 1981 nuptials, is the fairy-tale ending to a love story thrust into the spotlight last November when the couple first announced their engagement. “I, William Arthur Philip Louis, take thee, Catherine Elizabeth, to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse,” William vowed. “For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish, till death us do part.” With brother and best man Prince Harry, sporting the uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry, by his side, William, 28, wearing the scarlet uniform of the Colonel of the Irish Guards, slipped a traditional Welsh gold wedding band on Middleton’s finger, saying, “With this ring, I thee wed.” The couple also wrote their own prayer for the occasion. “God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage,” they said. “In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy. Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer.” With rows of trees lining the aisle of Westminster Abbey, music selected by the couple performed by the London Chamber Orchestra and a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress – the best-kept secret of the event – on the bride, no detail was too small for Friday’s ceremony. Middleton, 29, arrived to the Abbey in burgundy-and-black-colored Rolls-Royce, not a carriage, opting for a “lower-key arrival,” a palace source told PEOPLE in February. Guests such as Elton John and Victoria and David Beckham, just a few of the A-listers among the 1,900 who received an invitation, sat in chairs faced inward toward the aisle as Middleton walked toward her prince during the hour-long ceremony. Afterward, Queen Elizabeth was set to host a post-wedding breakfast of champagne and canapés at Buckingham Palace for 600 guests. At 7 p.m., Prince Charles will throw a dinner dance for about 300 guests in another one of the palace’s state rooms. Before the wedding, the bride spent her last night as a single woman in the Royal Suite of the Goring Hotel, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace. William, meanwhile, stayed with his father and brother at the Clarence House … Vows were exchanged and the wedding dress was revealed, but royal watchers around the world were still waiting for that magical moment – when Prince William and Duchess Catherine Middleton stepped out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace for their first kiss. At 1:25 p.m. London time, the fairy-tale moment unfolded, and the newly ennobled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared their first public kiss in front of thousands, who swarmed around Buckingham Palace to get a glimpse of the newlyweds in person. After waving to the crowd, with beaming smiles, the pair shared a demure peck while surrounded on all sides by their family. As the crowd cheered (some begging for more), the couple went in for a second, slightly longer kiss. And that balcony has historical significance: 30 years ago, Prince Charles and Princess Diana kissed in the same spot following their wedding.

Oh, let’s see those kisses again, shall we?

I think even the grumpy naysayers must admit … it was a beautiful ceremony and it was clear, Wills and Kate are really in love. I think when he whispered to her at the altar, “you look stunning”, the tears started to flow. Let’s send all of our LOVE and CONGRATS to the happily married couple! To the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, may you live long and prosperous lives together … Wills and Kate, may you truly live happily ever after!!!

Thank God. Now the American media can stop covering it and move on to things that are SO much more important.

    • Tonya says:

What’s wrong with covering something nice for once? This world can be a harsh and unforgiving place and the news in particular focuses so much on death and destruction and evil. It was wonderful to watch such a happy occasion for once. Yes there are other important things in the world that are happening today – but let those of us who are enjoying the break from sadness, death, finances and politics have our time.

      • Tiffany says:

That’s what gossip sites and gossip shows are for, not the news. The news is supposed to inform us of what is wrong with the world (no matter how harsh or unforgiving it is), not ignore the problems because of some wedding. Yeah it was nice and cute and romantic, but the news has better things to worry about.

      • Felicia says:

@Tiffany – The news is entertainment just like any other channel on television. News is good or bad and sometimes AMAZING like this joyous occasion that occured earlier today.

      • Debbie says:

I agree with Felicia–news is news whether good OR bad. And I for one loved the coverage. And if you don’t want to watch it, I’m sure there are oh so many other better things you have to do with your time than b*tch and try to ruin it for everyone else.

    • J says:

Haha yeah like Lindsay Lohan who is SO relevant to society!

      • Tiffany says:

@Felicia the news is not supposed to be entertainment, it’s supposed to be news. I’m not saying the news shouldn’t have covered the wedding, but I don’t think the news should have ignored everything else going on just because of this wedding. The news is supposed to inform us on what is going on in the world, but how can it do that if it is only covering one thing?

@Debbie look, I’m not trying to start a fight and I’m not complaining about it, I just stated my opinion.

For everyone asking here’s a screen cap of the empty chair for Diana

    and here’s the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....r_embedded it’s at 2:29

    • Meagan says:

If that is in fact a chair left for Diana, then Camilla put her purse on the wronnnng chair.

      • Trent Trent says:

        @Meagan — LOL!

      • Michelle says:

@Trent: Just reading the comments about the “chair”. So, was there actually one left for Princess Diana???? I just about shed a tear when I read there was. But it also makes sense they would never sit her next to Camilla (and if they did, that was a very bad call).

    • strawberry says:

no, that chair was for prince harry. after the exchanging of rings, kate’s dad and prince harry stepped down from the altar and went to sit down in their respective seats. prince harry sat on that empty chair besides camilla.

      • H says:

HAHAHA. I almost Lol-ed in public @ Meagan! I had a feeling it was for Harry as I wouldn’t imagine the late Diana sitting anywhere near Camilla for personal reasons. I think the fact that Kate is wearing Diana’s ring is tribute enough. Let her rest in peace knowing one of her sons is already happily married :)

  4. lily says:

  5. adri says:

I stayed up to watch.. it was cute and romantic
but I was so tired!! lol anyways I hated how all the damn annoying anchors were commenting about Diana and Prince charles wedding and how kate is so much more mature and didn’t look nervous.. ok well that may be but hello
is that really so negative? honestly it’s like they kept giving rude remarks about Diana! am I the only one who felt that? :s I wanted to tell all of them to shut the hell up…

  6. calz says:

The real scene stealer was the Archbishop of Canterbury’s eyebrows, how long were they!!
And for the record, I really loved Kate’s dress, wonderful pick!

  7. gpgirl says:

it was very elegant and classy.. you can see the love in their eyes. the thing we did not see in diana and charles. plus they knew each other for a long time as well..

and that darn biatch camilla put her purse on the empty chair!

    • sals says:

LOL…”damn bitch camilla”. LOL…. yeah that is quite rude of her if that empty chair was indeed for diana!

      • Debbie says:

The chair was for Harry after doing his part in the ceremony. The English aren’t quite that sentimental. And I’m tired of people bitching about Camilla–a woman Charles WOULD have married if she’d said yes the first time around but didn’t because at the time she didn’t want to be a royal. But Charles never stopped loving her even after he and Diana were forced to get married. Poor Diana, though–her own sister dated Charles and must have known what she was in for but they sacrificed her so that they’d be that much closer to the crown. Never been a fan but she didn’t deserve that.

Cue the pregnancy rumors and speculation in 3… 2… 1…

  9. Petra says:

As a European and used to Royalties and glam official weddings, this was a huge disappointment. Kate looked so ordinary, in hair, make up – even the dress with that horrible lace top….. I have never seen any Royal bride looked worse! Even her bridesmaid was out shining her major! It felt so very low-key… The Swedish royal wedding from last year was a bigger success in all means.

Only positive side though was that they really looked in love – and adorable to see them interact together!

    • Dot says:

I think it’s great that their wedding was, as you called it, very low-key. And about her dress, she looked a little bit like Grace Kelly and in my opinion she looked absolutely stunning.

  10. strawberry says:

aww i love this wedding!!! william and kate look SO in love!!! i’m really happy for them even though i don’t know them hahahahahha. did you guys see the archibishop or someone else from the church doing a somersault after the church wedding was over? he thought nobody else was around (after everyone went out of the church) but his actions was filmed by the camera!!!!! hahahahahaha so cute!!!! guess everyone must be under a lot of stress! thanks goodness everything went on well and beyond everyone’s expectations! :)
