In celebration of today’s album release, our dear Britney appeared this morning on Good Morning America in a pre-taped mini-concert that she filmed in San Francisco, CA last Sunday. I have to say Brit really hasn’t made a comeback as far as her dancing and performance energy is concerned. This may be better than the mistaken early comeback at the VMAs a few years ago where she looked like a zombie with no rhythm, but she has maybe 1/10th of the energy she had in her prime. She’s not old or out of shape by any stretch of the imagination, so what gives? When watching the Britney special a year or two ago where they showed behind the scenes stuff, it seemed to me like her heart isn’t in it anymore. She still seemed really fragile and I don’t know that she ever got the help she needed become strong and self-assured again. Confidence definitely has a huge effect on performance energy. It makes me really sad to think she’s not really recovered, or is performing even though she doesn’t really want to anymore, so I’ll hope I’m reading too much into it.

You know, I think it’s the lithium. I’ve always maintained that she is bipolar hence her meltdown (which was not attributed to illicit drugs). I think she’s better now that she’s medicated, but she totally seems like she’s on some sort of psychotropic drug. I’m happy she’s still functional though.
i agree 100% i totally love Britney but she´s so stiff! I hope she´ll get back to her old dancing self sooner rather than later..
I agree she may be medicated, which if she’s taking psychotropic drugs they will definitely affect her energy. I love Britney and her music and am happy she’s continuing to put out solid albums. But more than that I’m concerned about her well-being. I would rather have no new Britney if it meant that she is happy and whole. I think she has a lot of strong influences around her that coaxed her into coming back and convinced themselves and Britney that she’s ready for this, that she healed. And I think it must be impossible to be in a spot where everyone is encouraging you to come back and saying you are ready, of course she doesn’t want to disappoint anyone. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to stand up to all the people surrounding her and admit she is not ready; that could make even the strongest person feel like a failure.
It was … not that good. (I’m being nice.) If it was any other person other than Britney Spears, she would be getting crushed. That’s her strong point.
Ugh!! Devoation is one thing, but BLIND devotion is quite another. I give praise where it’s due, but it’s not due here. She is completely out of her element these days. No heart, no effort, no spark. I’m not faulting her completely. I think she doesn’t know what to do, so she keeps on going with this. I feel sorry for her.

I pretty much in agreement with the comments so far. She’s lost her performance and it’s not coming back. I LOVE Femme Fatale and listen to it non stop at the moment, but based on what I’ve seen with these videos and other recent ones, I’ve decided that if she comes touring to the UK, I’m not going to go see her. I can get past the whole miming thing, or at least I could, because Britney was an Entertainer, not a ‘Singer’, now she’s not really either when performing.
She needs to go away from the spotlight, her management, and to be honest, her family (apart from her sons) because I’ve heard many things about how her mother is the one to watch out for. Anyhoo, she needs to go away and actually sort out her issues. I was thinking exactly the same thing as NV, she’s lost her confidence and she’s obviously dealing with mental issues/self-conscious, so to put her out there when she’s clearly not ready. Personally as a fan, I’d rather she became happy in herself rather than putting out another record when you can tell she’s clearly not in it wholeheartedly. Then again, I doubt she’ll ever get the help she truly needs with the types of ‘yes’ people around her. It’s a shame. She has so much potential to be bigger than Madonna in some ways, but she’ll never get there with how she is now.
She needs to give up dancing in heels, I thing that slows her down right there. A lot of her old performances she wasn’t wearing heels, and I don’t think her dancers wear heels either.
I agree with you. Her dancers all wear flats. Boots or sneakers. I think she’s told to wear heels cause they’re “sexy” and she’s trying to have a sexier image these days. But honestly I’d rather watch her really dance it out like we know she can, than to see her in heels.
The heels might be a small part of the problem, but come on, you are just making excuses. Heels don’t effect how well you lip-sync to your own songs. Her whole effort was half hearted. You can’t blame it all on the shoes.

LOVE the album, but I think SHE’S ready to go. Just didnt seem all that into it. I love her though, but I think she just wants to go away and be mommy, which isnt a bad thing. Its not like she’s got to do this for her entire life. She can do what MJ did and just raise her kids til their older, and then come back and lay a can of whoopass.
She’s got it in her to do better than this performance, so Im not saying she’s ready to throw it in at this point of this performance, but after this album and tour I think she’ll be ready to go.

Yes sad to say this is not the same Britney as we know. We are aware she went threw a medical breakdown a while ago. I am convinced she is on some sort of medication, and as a result of that, her concentration and performance level is definitely effected!! Watching her perform is hard to watch at times,her dance moves are not sharp at at all, and her outfits sometimes don’t flatter her body. Oh ya we do know she isn’t sing live either. I blame her management, they should play to her strengths, not her weaknesses. Besides my comments, I am always rooting for her regardless, I have been a fan since day one.
Wow I’m actually really surprised to read all these comments on here! I just watched it after DVRing while I was at work and I thought she did really good!!! And I’m not blinded by Brit love lol. Maybe I had lowered expectations after seeing the videos from the atrocious Vegas show, but she def. improved a lot from those! Yes, she’s not as good or sharp dance and performance-wise as back in the day, but I thought the GMA concert went off really well!

Good Lord she was awful. And I LURVE me some Britney. The lip syncing was beyond obvious and I guess that was called dancing. Mostly it was just climbing up some stairs to sit down while her back up dancers actually danced. And she was not even with the beat of the music. What’s up?!!? We have been waiting for this for a while now and it was not good :(

That was true Britney! It truly does seem like she’s either under some sort of sedation, or her heart is simply not in it at all. Would be wonderful if she can turn it around, but I worry it just won’t happen anymore…
I really think she needs a new choreographer cuz the one she has now SUCKS! Like really bad. I think shes got a little more left in her…maybe…
The heels have got to go! I think she seemed much better in the last two performances when she had the boots on, although she still seemed disconnected from the music….theres no fluidity in her dancing. Its sad and disappointing, and shes turning into someone to watch to see if she can prove people wrong rather then someone to watch for her actual abilities.
Im kinda DYING to know what Trent thinks!!! I am a MASSIVE Britney fan, have all the cds, literally been to all the concerts, and I LOVE HER! Although I did enjoy these performaces, I hate to say I must agree she definitely has not been able to dance the same it seems for a few years now. It seems like even at certain times the choreography is so lame, like during the big fat bass they have her just sitting on a speaker pretty much, seems so odd. I wonder if it is just a nerves thing ever since the VMAs a few years back? Regardless, I really don’t care, call me a “blindly devoted fan” but I’ve been into her since I was 14 (26 now) & I’m stickin with it, haha. Regardless, Femme fatale is the BOMB, especially the extra songs he about to lose me and selfish! ANyways, Trent, just curious to hear what a fellow Brit fanatic thinks

ive lived in California for 3 years and now I am back to Europe (Switzerland) and let me tell you why. people have a created idea of America being the best place on earth therefore everything that is “made in USA” has an illusion of being the greatest for American people. If Britney was British or French she wouldve never gotten anywhere musically wise becuase SHE SUCKS. But people have low expectations in the US (eventhough there are some amazing voices out there – Aguilera), so lip synking is acceptable and welcomed, which is kinda dumb if you think about it… songs are made to be sung, not lip-synked to.
Britney is bipolar. Christina aguilera is the diva to watch 4. She (christina) is making a huge massive comebak in 2011/2012. Get ready 4 LEGENDTINA.
