First Look: Adrianne Palicki In Costume As Wonder Woman
Um ... Is She Wearing ... PANTS?!

In mid-February we learned that Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki was cast in the coveted role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman for the new David E. Kelly reboot TV series for NBC due out this Fall. Earlier this week we saw photos of Elizabeth Hurley on the WW set as the villainous Veronica Cale but right now we get our FIRST LOOK at Adrianne in costume as Wonder Woman herself. As you might imagine, this new incarnation of Wonder Woman comes with a new costume … a costume that makes a few changes to the iconic costume that we all know and love. Check it out what the new Wonder Woman looks like below.

Red alert! Or should we say blue? EW has obtained an exclusive first look of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — from NBC’s reboot of the classic 1970s series. What’s different from what we’ve seen before? Well, how about those shiny blue pants? And blue boots instead of red ones? Compared to Lynda Carter’s get-up, this body-hugging extravaganza de-emphasizes the patriotism and seems to play up the comic’s Greek mythology. And a special shout-out to those bracelets! Wonder Woman is being remade by Boston Legal writer David E. Kelley, who has incorporated the superhero’s signature lasso, cuffs, and plane in the pilot. NBC promises the project, if picked up to series, will offer a serious, non-campy take on the DC Comics character. Along with Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride) have joined the cast. Hurley’s character runs a pharmaceutical company that is creating a drug that makes people stronger while Elwes plays the CEO of Diana’s company, Themyscira Industries.

OK … so maybe Wonder Woman isn’t wearing pants, per se, but these are deffo tights … which is a big change to the iconic Wonder Woman costume. I thought I had prepared myself for changes like this but … I guess not. This new costume looks more like the new costume that was introduced in the WW comic books last Summer:

But thankfully she’s not wearing that hideous jacket nor those fugly trucker boots. I really do not like the costume as featured in the comic books but I’m not quite sure how I feel about how it looks in this photo. It’ll take me some time to get used to this new look … if I can get used to this new look. Vinyl pants with a camel toe seam, REALLY?! What do y’all think? Do you like this new incarnation of Wonder Woman at first glance?

OH GOD, WHERE IS JOSS WHEDON WHEN YOU NEED HIM!!! He would have never let this happen.
    :(

Lynda Carter commented! She says she is open to making a visit to the show! From E!:

“I think she looks fabulous,” said Carter, who originated the role in the classic (and oh-so-campy!) series in the mid-’70s. “It’s a new look and, jeez, her body looks fantastic.”

Carter wants everyone to give Palicki a chance.

“You know, I’m very sensitive to the fact that she will be compared,” Carter said. “There’s no getting around it. It is what it is. I would hope that people would cut her some slack.

“I’m sure there will be people who say she looks better than me and like her better than me—and that’s also fine,” she continued. “I want this story to be told again. I’m really excited. I can’t wait to see it.”

The series is being remade by legal eagle television writer David E. Kelley. And yes, Carter says, they’ve already talked about her making an appearance. “It’s not out of the question,” she said. “It would be great.”

    I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. cutitout says:

Fail. It looks like a $19.99 Party City Halloween costume. It should be close to the iconic suit but a little less pleathery. Maybe a rougher leather with metalic metal embelishments. Definitely no pants.

  5. BetoMaD says:

I am SO dissapointed with this costume
    WW represents my childhood!

  6. sals says:

yikes…that is one ugly outfit…cant take it seriously. all you see are her boobs. lol

  7. Lisa says:

    lol it’s so bad!

  8. eiBeauty says:

It’s not bad however I always loved the red boots with the white seam. Why would they change that?

  9. JAmie says:

ELiza Dushku should be wonder woman! However Lucy Lawless would have been fantastic, but probably a little to much like Xena

  10. pencecil pencecil says:

Her body looks banging, but I like my Wonder Woman in hot pants.

  11. Mangina says:

Oh man. I can already see a cheesefest with this pilot. I was hoping the costume would be more warrior like but once again the character is being sexualized. I don’t think it will be picked up for series.

  12. Lucille says:

I want to see the hot pants with little stars and the red boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That´s not her!!!! I´m so sad!!! :( WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She´s my hero!!! DEK: You can´t do that to me!!!

  13. Phoenix says:

wow I don’t like the new outfit. I think they shoulda stayed true to the original costume. Also I was surprised they picked this girl there are other girls that would be perfect for this role and actually resembles Linda Carter lol (Megan Fox tho she can’t act would be a hotter Wonder woman LOL)

  14. Mariel says:

Oh no!!! and it will get worse sooner than later..

  15. lynn says:

What an ugly costume. The show is already in danger. This is Wonder Girl not Wonder Woman. what a joke.

  16. lynn says:

hahah. I just read Lynda Carter’s comments. Of course she say what she said. Deep down inside she knows that her costume rocked, her body rocked, and basically her era rocked. lol. This costume looks cheap and plastic. The cuffs looks like paper. Let’s not start on the boots and the head gear or her hair. The girl on Nikita dresses better than this and more resembles a modern day WW.

  17. tony says:

as many from here, ww represents a big part of my childhood and maybe thats the hardest part of seeing this. as a stylist i can say that this in other materials would looked better.

but they avoid the fact the amazons wouldnt wear jumpsuits. these are women comfortable with their bodies. and this outfit doesnt represent that.

two things: no pants and no patent leather and it would get a 100 times better.

  18. lyssa says:

wow dont you think they couldve found someone prettier..
and i hate this outfit..its too partycity and cheap looking..
i loved the red boots w/ white from the original outfit, these blue w/ the gold are ugly.
it wouldve been better if they stuck to the original outfit
