Enrique Iglesias Releases A Statement About Quitting Britney Spears’s Tour
"Sorry for the confusion"

Enrique Iglesias has finally spoken out publicly over his decision to quit his co-headlining tour with Britney Spears by posting a short message on his official website. In an effort to put the whole sordid mess behind us, I think it’s a great idea that he issued his statement … so we can all just move on. Read what he had to say below.

Hey guys, sorry for the confusion regarding a possible tour in the summer with Britney Spears. We are on the Euphoria tour and will continue to do so including some soon-to-be-announced dates in US. So hope to see all of you soon

This is what his rep had to say officially about his decision to pull out of the tour:

“Unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears will not be touring together. Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album EUPHORIA. Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone.”

This is what Live Nation, the tour promoter, is saying:

“Enrique Iglesias is no longer on this tour.”

Thus far, Britney Spears nor her camp has had anything official to say. Despite what I may personally believe about what really happened, I truly hope that these statements will put the entire matter to rest. IMHO, the fact that Britney and Enrique are not touring together is in everyone’s best interest and we can just move forward. Enrique can finish his already successful tour and Britney can get to work on finding a new touring partner. I can’t wait to find out who will be sharing the stage with our dear Britney!

I don’t really care either way. This had seemed like an odd combo to me. I can imagine there’s probably (at best) only a 30% cross-over on their fan base anyway.

I have always liked her no matter what problems she had.Him not so much.I’m not a size queen since I’ve been a top all my life after being raped as a boy but everybody in Miami knows,by his own admition, that his wand is a weeny.Booo.She is better off without him.Go Britney.

Nothing about his ego in that statement, guess you will just have to cling to your sexist machoism theories then

  7. Madsme says:

Trent, a word of support: I think that not only was your original post bang on, but IMHO it showed great insight into the kinds of sexism and patriarchal standards that define most (but not all) of the “glamour” industry – Hollywood, top 40s music, etc – and Latin American cultures. It was refreshing and a pleasure to read…for once someone called a spade a spade! That said, I know not everyone agrees, and to that end I appreciate the dialogue you provoked. So thank you all around :)

to me…it just sounds like it was annouced before everything was a done deal. no real big scandal here.
you britney fans should just keep your fingers crossed that he doesnt get replaced with someone like Kesha

  9. Silvi says:

She should tour with J.Lo. Since they both have new albums coming out. OMG, THAT WOULD BLOW MY MIND.
Fatale Love? Imagine all the fierceness on that stage….

  10. nicole nicole says:

@Trent – the fact that Kesha helped on the album…and thier both pop….it seems logical that it could happen…but i really wouldnt wish that on anyone. everyone just start saying some prayers to the pop gods lol.

You know what popped into my head & won’t leave? I recently read somewhere that Brit’s arch-rival [dubbed by tabs anyway] Christina Aguilera apparently tweeted her congrats for Brit’s new CD & tour… Those 2 go a LONG way back, right – to the “New Mickey Mouse Club”? So having both ladies tour together would shock fans of both because, let’s face it, most of them believe EVERYTHING they read. And Brit hates Xtina or is it the other way around?

    Anyway, like I said, it’s in my head & won’t leave! ;)

I heard there’s gonna be a co-headlining tour with Christina Aguilera.

Right when the news came out that Enrique pulled out of her opening act, Christina popped a visit at Jimmy Kimmel’s during Britney’s appearance and met her after ages. Heard they had a good catch up session and a fruitful chat and stuff like that. Recently before that, they tweeted each other.

    The Bionic Femme Fatale Tour?

    Possibly!

    Possibility!

I heard on the radio this morning that Nicki Minaj was in talks for the spot. That would certainly be…um…interesting…?
