Enrique Iglesias QUITS The Just-Announced Co-Headlining Tour With Britney Spears
Apparently, He Cannot Handle the Femme Fatale

Just hours ago it was officially announced that Britney Spears and Enrique Iglesias would be hitting the road together this Summer on a co-headlining tour … but **just now** it has been reported that Enrique has decided to QUIT and pull out of the tour! WTF?! Details on why he is quitting have not yet been fully revealed … but we do know at this point that he will no longer be touring with Britney this Summer.

Enrique Iglesias has pulled out of the Britney Spears North American tour just hours after the tour was announced, sources tell Billboard.biz. Tour promoter Live Nation declined to comment; Billboard.biz will have more on this story as details emerge. The tour was announced shortly before the singer’s appearance on “Good Morning America” this morning. Plans called for Iglesias, who is currently on tour in Europe, to be much more than a standard opening act; he was slated to carry full production on the Spears tour. While two such high-profile artists with top-shelf production values was sure to be attractive to fans, such an endeavor is also very expensive to produce. Spears’ tour will be produced by Live Nation, with veteran pop tour promoter Brad Wavra, VP at Live Nation, running point. Wavra has previously steered successful tours by such acts as Backstreet Boys, ‘Nsync and the Jonas Brothers. Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Additional on-sale dates will be announced at a later date. Citi cardmembers will also have access to presale tickets through Citi’s Private Pass Program.

What the hell?! I mean, as shocking as this development is … I can’t say that I’m all that upset at all. I, personally, think Britney doesn’t need a co-headliner to tour with her so if she hits the road as the only main act, I will be 1000% fine with that. If, instead, her people still want her to co-headline with a major performer, I hope they make the right choice … there are a lot of great performers out there who I wouldn’t mind seeing tour with our dear Britney Spears. I’m thinking Kylie Minogue would be a wonderful choice as tourmate! I’m really curious to find out why Enrique decided to pull out … my guess is that he can’t handle touring with a megastar like Britney who will surely outshine him ;) I’ll be sure to update all of Britney‘s tour news as soon as it becomes available.

So … what do YOU think is going on here?

YAY!!! Now maybe she will come and visit me.

  2. Scott says:

This makes me so much more happier! I did not care to see Enrique especially since this tour will (hopefully) be my first time seeing Britney in concert! Though, I hope it doesn’t mess things up toi bad on for her and her people…

I wouldn’t mind another female pop star opening/co-headlining though. After all, Britney’s a Femme Fatale, she’ll need an awesome female sidekick and not just some dude.

    • Trent Trent says:

@Scott — “Britney’s a Femme Fatale, she’ll need an awesome female sidekick and not just some dude.” Yes, another female performer would be much better, IMHO.

I think the backlash from britney fans hit him. lol, Just looking online, brit brits fans were not happy with the combo, so maybe he just decided to pull out? Or maybe a family issue. idk

  4. sarahhh sarahhh says:

WTF? well more britney i guess. i agree another female would go so perfect.

  5. nicole nicole says:

you know as much as everyone thinks shes doesnt *need* a co headliner, it might not be such a bad thing. she doesnt command a stage like she use too…lets face it, theres a lot of walking, hair flipping & swinging the arms these days, so maybe having someone tour with her can take some pressure off. instead of trying to pull off a whole set, it would be half the work and some of that dancing everyones been missing can come out. her last tour sure wasnt her best, was it entertaining? sure..was it as good as her last tours..IMO no.

as for Enrique all of a sudden pulling out.. theres probably a damn good reason. i doubt its just as simple as he didnt want to do it….just hope they dont go and add someone like rihanna or kesha haha.

  6. Me says:

He probably saw her absolutely dreadful performance today.
The spoons from Beauty and the Beast in “Be Our Guest” have sharper dance moves.
I’m a big Britney fan, and am loving her new album but I will no longer pay to see her “live”, having a co-headliner was just an easy way for her to be all the more lazy.

  7. Lisa says:

Well I was surprised she had/needed a co-headliner anyway. And I thought it was an odd pairing too. But I agree with “Me” above. Her dance moves live were not looking good. It was reminiscent of a few years ago on MTV. She just seems so…out of it. Like a second behind the other dancers. Not sure if I am seeing that correctly as I’m certainly no dancer! But I still love me some Brit Brit!

  8. Joanna says:

This is surprising but not all that unexpected. Britney is a much bigger star than he is and hardly anyone would be going to see him perform. He’s smart to cut his losses now. If he wants to tour he should do it on his own so only his fans come out and support him.

  9. CHASE says:

He’s an idiot. It would have been HUGE exposure for him and kept it relevant for 5 minutes longer. Oh well. Britney doesn’t need anyone except her fans. <3

  10. ella says:

yeah i’m actually glad, i thought that enrique wasn’t a good call for her. she’s too big a star to co-headline with him IMO

  11. brittany says:

If it was his decision I think he is an idiot! Who wouldn’t want to pair up with such success? That being said I can’t wait to see Brit! No matter who she’s with!

  12. kerirulz kerirulz says:

i am totally okay with this, to be honest. i’m not a fan of enrique and i really didn’t want to have to sit through his set to see brit brit. i’m hoping for a fabulous female tourmate as well!

  13. loveless says:

It’s been reported that the ticket prices range from $96 to $346 before fees.

    • Andrea says:

Dont trust Perez he would do anything to cut down Britney and put Gaga on a pedestal so just dont freak out before you hear from someone reliable

      • nicole nicole says:

@Andrea – i hate perez as much as the next person, but you cant blame him here – he gave the prices that ticketmaster quoted. so unless ticketmaster goofed…the prices are a little insane.

      • Virginia says:

Now, mind you when Gaga was touring last time, her tickets were more expensive. (At least for the shows around here the lowest price I could find was $145)

  14. Joan says:

You guys are way too harsh on Enrique! So funny. LOL

  16. anthony says:

Yes.. finally no enrique… Its more better! Britney just Britney!! I dont care live or plyback but sure I expect her to sing live. Its more fun, isnt??

  17. mark says:

Thank GOD no ENRIQUE!!! Britney is the Femme Fatale, she needs no co-headliner!! Britney is the QUEEN OF POP!!

  18. Nat says:

I’m a big Britney fan, but I actually saw Enrique in concert last weekend and he was really good. TBH, the reason I thought the pairing was odd, was that having seen Enrique’s show, I realised he toured in a totally different way. No big sets/costume changes/dancers, just him, his band and lots of energy. I just wasn’t convinced that would work with Brit, who is all about the big production.

Co-headlining isn’t that weird, Justin and Christina did it, I just think that if she does it, it should be with a more compatible act. But Britney on her own would be just fine too!

    • Joan says:

Agreed, and Enrique is a pretty chill, nice guy overall. Any convoluted conspiracy theories due to this decision to pull out of the tour seem highly unlikely and silly to me.

  19. Jason says:

I’m truly not surprised- Today’s performance on GMA was T-I-R-E-D! Okkkay!!!
I am a huge Brit Fan – but lets keep it real, She’s known for being what? An Entertainer!
Miss Hunnii’s vocals have never been all that & we knew but didn’t mind cuz she put on a SHOW!
Today’s Hot Mess Performance proved what we all have been secretly suspecting, that her career has already peaked. My advice gurl- continue being a great mom & focus on doing your own reality show! People would watch..
    xxooxx

  20. vVv says:

yesss ! sorry but enrique is just niot her ligue ;) all in all i like him :) but come on it would be starnge ;)
