TMZ is reporting that Christina Aguilera and her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler were arrested in West Hollywood, CA early this morning both for being drunk. Xtina was busted on a misdemeanor of public intoxication while Matt was busted on the seemingly more serious charge of drunk driving. Dang!
Christina Aguilera was arrested early this morning along with her boyfriend in West Hollywood, TMZ has learned. Christina was popped for public intoxication and her boyfriend was arrested for driving under the influence. Aguilera was arrested at 2:45 AM and booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s substation on a misdemeanor charge. On the booking report, Aguilera was listed at 5’2″ and 100 pounds. Aguilera’s 25-year-old boyfriend Matthew Rutler was also arrested last night at the same time for a misdemeanor offense. According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Rutler’s bail was set at $30,000. Law enforcement sources tell us Aguilera appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” and was “unable to take care of herself.” However, the source adds, “If the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble.” Sources close to Xtina tell us they have been trying to get the singer into a rehab program for weeks.
Oh snap! It looks like Xtina is serious about having a downfall of her own. Haven’t we been hearing for weeks about her hard partying and out of control drinking? Remember that story in January about Xtina passing out drunk in Jeremy Renner‘s bed at his birthday party? Of course, her people denied that any such thing happened but … c’mon. Homegirl has been stumbling out of bars drunk for a while now. She has managed to stay out of trubs and, as far as I know, this is her first arrest. But … from what I’ve been hearing, Xtina has been sinking more and more into unhealthy behavior … ever since she hooked up with Rutler who, if this report is to be believed, can really be blamed for her arrest. It remains to be seen if this is just a bump in the road or if it’s a sign of the new and degrading Xtina Aguilera.

I like what Nicole said – well put. I will always be an X-Tina fan for life! And ppl need to stop bashing her and comparing her to Britney, Gaga, etc. She obviously is hurting so instead of kicking her while she’s down why not give her love & support? Like you would a loved one &/or a friend? She will come through, she’s smart & has a lot to live for. I think that it is REALLY tacky of people to say that this was planned. She just went through a divorce of a man she has been in love with for years! She is human, folks. Divorce is one of the most stressful, painful things a person can experience.
I don’t think rehab is the answer, because IMO that is for people who are alcoholics. From my limited perspective, it seems as if she is just going through a rough period in her life. Therapy would be the best thing for her, IMO.

I was always a Britney girl growing up, but I agree with what Nicole and the others are saying, I don’t think she’s gone and turned into a raging alcoholic. Getting divorced is a HUGE deal, even though most of the world has become jaded by how often it happens. Christina has to be hurting, she’s just not dealing with it in a healthy way right now, and having the wrong influences around you doesn’t help, especially when you’re in the spotlight like she is. To say she’s doing this to stage a “comeback” is stupid, Christina has always been a pretty smart business woman, she’s not foolish enough to risk her reputation like this.

When you’re a parent I think you should hold yourself to a higher standard and buck up for the sake of your kids. Fortunately for me I don’t have any and maybe that’s easier said than done but stilllllllllll.
