Chris Brown, who was convicted of the brutal assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna a couple of years ago, made an appearance on Good Morning America this morning to promote the release of his new album and flew into a violent fit of rage in the studio after he was asked questions about his assault on Rihanna. On camera, Brown tried to hide his anger and deflect the questions but GMA host Robin Roberts was not interested in letting up on the questioning. As soon as the show went to commercial, Brown ran to his dressing room, smashed into and broke a window, ripped off his shirt and fled onto the streets of NYC shirtless and seething. So much for those anger management classes Brown was forced to take after his assault conviction. Check out photos and video from the incident below.

Chris Brown exploded in rage behind the scenes at “Good Morning America” this morning … smashing a window and storming out without a shirt … sources tell TMZ … and it was triggered by on-air questions about the Rihanna incident. ABC sources tell TMZ … Brown performed and was interviewed by Robin Roberts live from the Times Square studio when she began asking about the infamous incident. Brown tried to redirect the questions to focus on his album — but Roberts continued to ask about Brown’s legal issues stemming from the Rihanna incident. We’re told after the interview, Brown freaked out, storming into his dressing room and screaming so loud, the people in hair and makeup became alarmed and called security. We’re told Brown was out of control, and one source present tells us he smashed a window in his dressing room, and the glass shattered and some shards fell onto 43rd and Broadway. ABC security tells TMZ … the window was shattered with a chair. We’re told by the time security rushed the area, Brown had ripped off his shirt and left the building, blowing off another performance he was supposed to do for the ABC website. And sources say … on his way out of the building, Brown confronted a segment producer, got in his face and stared him down. People from the show got in between Chris and the producer to diffuse the situation. Remember — Brown is on probation for the felony beating and he’s required to obey all laws.
UPDATE: Brown just tweeted, “I’m so over people bringing this past shit up!!! Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there bullshit.”
Here is video of the on-air questioning that led to Chris Brown‘s violent outburst:
And now the world can see just how little prompting can send Chris Brown into a violent rage. THIS is the monster who unleashed a beating on Rihanna that left her almost unrecognizable. This is the king of behavior that Rihanna got to see up close and personal when he brutally beat her in his car. It is very clear to me that all of Brown‘s assurances that he “learned his lesson” from all of the anger management classes he was forced to attend as part of his punishment for his assault conviction was just lip-service bullshizz. It sounds like the man has not changed … he sounds just as violent as he ever was. It remains to be seen what, if any, consequences will come from this outburst considering he is still on probation for his crimes … but I think now we know that Chris Brown is capable of the same violence he unleashed on Rihanna … capable of unleashing that violent anger in an instant. Wow.

Throw his punk ass in jail and let him think about his little outbursts for a while without a paycheck. Tell me he isn’t worse than Lindsay Lohan . . .
And all you messed-up women defending a man who beats his girlfriend? Wow. I wouldn’t want to be YOUR shrink.
I will never buy a Chris Brown album – the guy’s a total douche!
I’m just going devils advocate here. In no way do I forget the brutal attack against Rihanna. Having said that, this man underwent two years of community service and anger management, put out a really great album and showed up (more than 2 years later) to talk about his new album release and the interviewer couldn’t have cared less. All she wanted to talk about was Rihanna. I do think there comes a time when overshadowing his efforts in moving forward with an incident in the past that he’s tried to make amends for is just classless.
I agree with you to a certain extent about the interview questions about Rihanna, BUT, clearly, Chris still has anger problems. Pissed off at the interview(er) or not, Chris’ actions of throwing a chair or whatever out a window in Times Square is inexcusable. He could’ve really hurt a pedestrian (adult, child, old person), dog, etc. This bitch needs some serious anger management. And no, I will never endorse him. He’s an immature baby who needs to finally act like the twenty-something he is. Enough of the bullshit apologies; they’re all empty, Chris, all the time.
I hear you – it’s kinda what I thought when reading this article. Older white guys like Sheen and Jack Nicholson are super violent to their girlfriends and wives, and don’t get this kind of grilling, or even sentancing.
Dare I call racism on this one?
Why don’t we ask our president if this is racial?
Ite really makes me sad to see whats going on w chris ive been his fan from the start i really thought that he had learn his lesson as much as i love his music and talent the man he is showing to be is really sad.. i really hope he can change but doesn’t look like it :( as fans i really think the ones he has left really need to stop lying to him. the things he does are his fault he cant blame other ppl :(
I am NOT one who would normally defend a batterer, but I do think that Chris Brown deserves some sympathy. Chris made a terrible decision the night he got into the altercation with Rihanna – and he’s paid for it tenfold.
I think people are bullying him to try and make him flip out. Chris completed all of his court ordered classes – he has not been in any trouble for two years – why do people find it necessary to try and goad him? I think asking Chris about the alteraction as a way of highlighting mental health issues, or unhealthy relationships, is valid – but continually harping on him ilustrates the deeper issues in play here.
Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen constantly show contempt for the law. Both of them assult people and property wantonly, and both have had chance after chance to fix their lives. The difference between those losers and Chris Brown is that he seems desperate for a second chance that most likely will not happen, while Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan curse and sneer at the millions of dollars offered to them simply for being assholes.
It’s sooo hypocritical for people to be fired up about Chris Brown and his ONE misdeed, while worshiping Charlie Sheen for a career made up of brutal assults (including shooting)against women. I believe Charlie Sheen has sold-out shows all over the country, and I don’t recall him apologizing EVER for beating him ex-wife a few months ago. Where are the angry comments about that?
Leave Chris Brown alone!
you are an idiot. period.
That was helpful. Why not respond to what I said, rather than with a person attack. I’m sorry you are feeling so sad.
Sarrie, your point about Charlie Sheen is really not accurate. Unless you can show that the SAME people are supporting Charlie and not Chris, “hypocritical” doesn’t apply. It is sad that a very small percentage of the country supports either of them.
Don’t use Charlie’s success as a way to defend your decision to support Chris, a man who continues to vent his anger through violence. If you support Chris, you should do it based on his own merit, not as a way to counter balance support for Charlie.
Sarrie Joey – I have a background in working with victims of domestic violence and would really like to explain and point out a few things with you. Firstly, the Chris Brown “altercation” is in no way an isolated incident – and I think that comparing it or even starting to justify hypocrisy of others for not boycotting Charlie Sheen doesn’t ad any weight or validity to your argument.
I mean, is this a stat that you’ve read? Or some sort of solid evidence that you have? I mean, proof that the people who are putting down Chris Brown are then turning around and not able to see the problems that Sheen is creating?
I just don’t understand what one has to do with the other.
Secondly, if Chris Brown had learned his lesson, or “paid” for his crime, he would have been in jail. I have never heard of anyone beating their partners and never re-offending.
Thirdly, lets stop calling this “altercation” and really use the language that is more appropriate. I feel that saying he was in an “altercation” with his girlfriend makes it seem less violent. He brutally beat up his girlfriend so badly that it put her in the hospital.
I’m truly sad that there is an entire generation of women who see to justify this behaviour. Peace.
Pamela lets do a little comparison just for some “added validity” so you can “understand what one has to do with the other”
Charlie Sheen :
“In 1990, he accidentally shot his fiancée at the time, the actress Kelly Preston, in the arm. (The engagement ended soon after.) In 1994 he was sued by a college student who alleged that he struck her in the head after she declined to have sex with him. (The case was settled out of court.) Two years later, a sex film actress, Brittany Ashland, said she had been thrown to the floor of Mr. Sheen’s Los Angeles house during a fight. (He pleaded no contest and paid a fine.) In 2006, his wife at the time, the actress Denise Richards, filed a restraining order against him, saying Mr. Sheen had shoved and threatened to kill her. In December 2009, Mr. Sheen’s third wife, Brooke Mueller, a real-estate executive, called 911 after Mr. Sheen held a knife to her throat. (He pleaded guilty and was placed on probation.) Last October, another actress in sex films, Capri Anderson, locked herself in a Plaza Hotel bathroom after Mr. Sheen went on a rampage. (Ms. Anderson filed a criminal complaint but no arrest was made.) And on Tuesday, Ms. Mueller requested a temporary restraining order against her former husband, alleging that he had threatened to cut her head off, “put it in a box and send it to your mom”

19 year old Chris Brown assaulted his girlfriend. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
” The privilege afforded wealthy white men like Charlie Sheen may not be a particularly new point, but it’s an important one nonetheless”
Well Played, Kali….Well Played!
I am no fan of Charlie Sheen – he seems like a total douche – but how is shoving, holding a knife up to someone and threatening them equivalent to brutally beating someone until they are unconscious? There is also those pesky words “alleged” and “accidentally” that make a huge difference. Trust me, if I saw the face of one of Charlie Sheen’s girlfriend’s and it looked as bad as Rihanna’s did that night, I’d be the first in line saying he belongs in jail too.
There is a different between threatening and doing. Both are awful but not equally so. If those women in Charlie Sheen’s life walked away without a scratch, they had it better than Rihanna did that night. Just saying!
But I truly don’t see what one thing has to do with another. The whole point is that what Chris Brown did was reprehensible and he seems to be annoyed that people aren’t just getting over it. He said the words that it is “no big deal” to him. That is not how someone who is truly remorseful acts in my book. I’m certainly not defending Charlie Sheen by any means but why can’t we just decide to hate them both for different levels of disgusting behavior??
Brown’s a little punk who hasn’t gotten over his anger issues. If I were a network exec I would not book him for shows. Brown is a loser in every sense.
lol, i love the “Hanes” underwear. real classy there Chris!
All i have to say is she was in the wrong she knew whats she was doing leave him alone about that he did what he did so long ago and now we have moved on from that all i have to say is good for him for moving on…. i love his new album F.A.M.E
