Rumors have been going around since January that Scarlett Johansson (26) and Sean Penn (50) have been getting closer and closer … and possibly closer than just friends. Until now, there has been no photographic proof that the two actors might be into one another … but TMZ managed to snag a photo of the pair lunching together in LA this week and as you can tell (by Scarlett‘s foot resting in Sean‘s lap) that the couple are, at the very least, very friendly.

With her foot in his lap during lunch, Scarlett Johansson, 26, got friendly with Sean Penn, 50, at Cuban restaurant Versailles in L.A. on Monday. We’re told the two were seen smiling and laughing together during the meal — and one source inside the restaurant tells us Scarlett covered the bill. Rumors of their “fling” have been swirling since January. FYI — Scarlett and Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce in December, while Sean finalized his divorce from Robin Wright Penn last July.

Now we cannot be sure — at all — that anything romantic is going on betwixt these two … but if you take the rumors and add them to this very cozy photo, well, it’s really starting to look like these two have gotten real close since they both split from their spouses. Will this turn into anything substantial? Time will tell … but I could see how these two might end up finding lurve together. Something about their pairing makes sense to me. What do y’all think?
