Yesterday we learned officially that the release date for Britney Spears‘s upcoming new album Femme Fatale has been pushed back from March 15 to March 29, presumably because she is still figuring out the final tracklist and she is deffo still recording tracks for the album. In fact, Britney tweeted yesterday that she recorded a new song with will.i.am (which, IMHO, is very troubling news cuz I’m not a big will.i.am or Black Eyed Peas fan). It was previously presumed that William Orbit would have a song on the album because word got out that he worked on a song for her … but according to Orbit himself, his song will NOT appear on the album … and he has a lot to say about his omission.
In a series of tweet messages on his official Twitter profile, William Orbit discussed at some length his dismay at not being included on Britney‘s new album. Here is the full text of his relevant tweet messages:

the Britney thing. Look, I went to a writing camp at Teresa’s. Had lovely time. Word got out. Assumptions were made / Dr Luke is exec prod and he locks in locks out whoever he likes. And (do i hear u ask) where B’s at in all this? I surely don’t know / did a song w Klas Ahlund, who wrote ‘Piece of Me’. And is killa. But not on FF apparently. But a good song is a good song regardless / gotta say, to me, a tru singa just wants 2 sing all the time. But some are only up for it till their mojo cranks out / some things are of the moment. And a few months beyond. And some r forever. U know that in your heart / see blank looks, then years later, the kudos. All means nuthin. We’ll see what we we’ll see / So if u’all could ease up on the Brit Q,s Don’t ask me, I’m not the glitz guy. / Enjoy the FF! / what beats us makes us stronger / kisses / seriously, Bloodshy and Avant r on there? They MUST be. ifAnyone they MUST be on there!!! Who’s got the scoop on this? / really, this is going to be a fab album. Whichever way, it’s going to be anotha part of the Britney legend. I shulda said nothin / don’t worry, is going to be fine. U’ll be jumpin up n down and singing. Britney is the best. And her prods. It is what it is, lol / u’all gotta chill cos is only pop music. Im lovin this nu experience and is me who has to show what i got. Don’t y’all be mad pleez / thanks to you all and i TRULY respect your passion. Some vino veritas on my part i confess. And now, onwards + upwards. x x x
Damnit. I was really hoping the William Orbit song was gonna make the cut, he is really fantastic. Orbit is right tho, Dr. Luke is running the show and he gets to pick the people he wants. I am not at all interested in hearing will.i.am on the album. Yes, he can write a good pop song but I do NOT want to hear him singing on Britney‘s album. Here is the tweet from Britney about being in the studio with will.iam:
In the studio with @iamwill…you guys are gonna love this one. – Britney
And will‘s tweet response:
The song I did with britney is ganna be crazy fresh. from the super bowl to the studio workin on a mega smasher. can’t wait till its done
In the end, I’m certain Britney‘s new album will be a smash success. I just hope they don’t overthink things and misfire with the tracklist. March 29 cannot get here soon enough for me. What do y’all think of this latest album update … are you excited … worried?

i think he makes a valid point. although i love me some brit her songs do seem to have an expiration date. she’s been around for 12-13yrs? and i can’t think of a single song i’d want to listen to right now.
i know he says it’s only pop music but some of the early madonna or kylie songs i’d still get really excited to hear those and although brit has a ton of songs i used to love it’s just that “used to love” now they feel kind of played out.
she will go out as a legend no doubt i just wish that they gave her songs to stand the test of time, beatles style, u know
k first off, that picture would be a great cover. it gives a better femme fatale feel.
and im sick of will.i.am but lets face it, the man makes good songs, that stick on the charts, and get played forever..so it might not be THAT bad to have her work with him
@nicole — The picture is just the cover after I inverted the color scheme. It does look cool, don’t it?
@Trent – send it to her team asap! lol cause i dont think they completely understand “femme fatal”.
the cover looks SOOOO much better your way Trent haha
I remember reading somewhere that Madonna hated working with William Orbit because he was all over the place. That said the ROL album is probably her most important work. I don’t know. Doesnt it seem like sour grapes to basically say Britneys music has an expiration date. Look at Toxic,Slave 4 U, even …baby one more time. None of them feel cliche nor niched in time. Maybe musically William Orbit just has a personality conflict with Britney and Co. And hate on him or not, but Will I Am has made some amazing dance music lately.I personally am hoping for something slower from him ( 3 words by Cheryl Cole like).
How uneducated is that fool, I couldn’t understand a single word in that mess. The Will I Am thing is very troubling and I don’t like how they are working on all of this at the last minute. I wish Brit was more in control of her own music instead of letting producers decide what’s on her album. Please don’t let us down Brit.
Boo! I was hoping to hear Orbit as well.
Though I would LOVE it if Britney tried to go a bit more avant guard and work with Mirwais, who made my two favorite Madonna albums.
Black Eyes Please, I cannot stand will i am and co…
i am very, VERY weary of will.i.am. his music is so hit and miss with me. a producer i would love to see is stuart price. everything that man touches, turns to gold. exhibit a: madonna’s confessions. exhibit b: kylie minogue’s aprodite. exhibit c: scissor sister’s night work.
” I wish Brit was more in control of her own music instead of letting producers decide what’s on her album.”
You’re kidding, right? She’s always been about the packaging, and the “talent” has always been the people around her. Britney herself is simply the luckiest girl in the world. Without them, she’s nothing.
I don’t understand why people like you say things when you have no idea what you’re talking about. Britney is Britney; she doesn’t pretend to be anyone else. She has never claimed to be a great singer like Whitney or Christina, so you quoting talent is annoying and irrelevant. Britney knows what she has and works it to her full advantage. Funny, anyone can record a Britney song…but does it mean it will be a success? NO. Britney records songs and makes them hers and they turn out amazing simply because it’s her voice. There have been a lot of people trying to steal Britney’s crown over the past decade and no one has been able to. She survived the 90′s, the early 00′s, and this decade she will survive and thrive amongst everyone else. Please take a seat. KTHANX
Blackout was a producers dream but she herself was still a producer no matter what anyone really says. It was her rebel album – her label weren’t keen but the sound wasn’t gonna change. Yeah obviously she wasn’t in the greatest state of mind to be promoting the thing, her label knew that but they just released it and didnt care much for it themselves.
Britney has proven her talent on Britney and In The Zone – majority of those albums were co-written and produced by her. Britney was the beginning of Britney taking charge of her career, it was still producers her label wanted but it was her maturing her sound. In The Zone was pretty much all her, choosing the producers and her song writers. Like all artists who have collaboraters, you’re still offered songs and beats to work with, doesnt make you talentless.
Circus wasn’t Britney, everyone knows that. This album she is much more involved even if she doesn’t write or produce as much as ITZ or Britney. Look at someone like Beyonce – she isn’t more of a producer than Britney or any other artist. Beyonce puts her names on all of her songs as writer and producer for one reason, more money. Her Dad taught her that and yeah she learnt well. But Beyonce don’t make her own beats AT all thats for sure. And she will change a word or a line to get credit.
Like CHASE said – Britney is human. She isn’t something needed to be seen in designer labels and looking perfect everytime she walks out the door. She leaves that for the camera for music videos and on stage. THAT is a performer – she isnt living a lie, shes just a living legend. If she picks her writers and producers as does her label, who cares as long as its music that sounds good – and by the way britney is so involved in this album it doesnt appear that she minds aswell. If it did, she wouldnt care as much like Circus really.
With that said, I’m upset bout Orbit. Wil.I.Am doesn’t bother me that much but I can agree he is a bit of a hit and miss with his songs. However he leaves his better stuff for other artists than himself thats for sure so with a BIT OF LUCK!
But Brit fans are worried this means Danja and other producers are gonna be left out in the cold with the album aswell. Danja is new Max Martin for Britney. He PERFECTED Blackout, we can’t lose him. OR Bloodshy & Avant. We NEED them on the album and it will be a BIG shame if they dont get included.
I would much prefer a Danja track anyday to a Max Martin these days personally. I want a sick beat and awesome vocals as opposed to a cheesy pop beat from Max with cheesy pop lyrics like Kesha.
If its one thing that doesnt occur with Britney or more of her Team and Label – they don’t listen to the fans that much when it comes to what we wanna hear. Yeah its up to them and Britney. But use producers we know WORK and we LOVE as opposed to playing it safe. SHe still has a big enough fanbase to buy the album if its fails with the other market that aren’t the die hard fans.
@J — Well said
