Watch: ‘X-Men: First Class’ Releases A First Movie Trailer
"Witness The Beginning"

The official Facebook profile for the new film X-Men: First Class has just been updated with the film’s first movie trailer … which you can watch below. As you may recall, we got to see the first promo photos for this new X-Men prequel last month (HERE and HERE) but today we finally get to check out the first trailer in full … and it looks pretty damn sweet.

This prequel film is set in the 60′s decades before the X-Men films that have already been released even took place … back when Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Erik Lensherr (Magneto) were BFFs. Without further ado, here is the first trailer for X-Men: First Class:

Squeee! This looks good … James McAvoy as Charles Xavier is gonna rule! I can’t wait for this film to come … June 3 seems so far away. I am loving this trailer … are you?

    Oooooh!! :)

This looks bad….Emma’s diamond form looks bad. Azarel being it makes no sense? What is Darwin, the driver? Why is Angel(girl) in this movie? Why does she seem to be some sort of stripper? Which means that this film will have Mystique, Stripper Angel and Emma all being over-sexualized versions of their characters(and Emma being over-sexualized is saying something). What’s with Emma having a basic instinct moment?

I like Nicholas Hoult as an actor but he’s horribly miscast. Beast was supposed to look “beastly” even before he turned big and blue. He was overgrown and everything. What’s the point of having him turn blue and furry in this film. Especially since it looks like a random mutation instead of something of his own scientific devices? Why is Havok in this movie at all and why is his power beam red?

There are just so many questionable choices in this film.

And so this film, which being a Fox won’t be very long, will the cuban missile crisis, Magnet’s introduction and downfall, Xavier’s introduction, Moira’s introduction, the relationship between Magneto/Xavier, the relationship between Xavier/Moira, the introduction of the HFC, Azarel, the introduction of multiple mutants, the likely turning of Mystique…How exactly will this all work?

Why couldn’t they keep this simple? Magneto and Xavier’s origins, with Moira and Magda, Shadow King as the bad guy(maybe influencing some angry humans) throw in some mutants like Mystique and Destiny, Banshee(not as a teen, he and Moira were a couple in the comics) maybe even The Vanisher. Focus on building these interesting characters like Magneto and Xavier, Moira and Shadow King. Instead we’re going to get a film just like Origins and First Class, devoid of any real emotion.

I should really look this up, but today is lazy geek day. Isn’t Havoc Scotts little brother?

      • Josh says:

Yes, it’s actually a major part of who he is as a character. He very much has ‘Other’ brother syndrome. Either way, even if you are going to age him up to be the older brother, why have him be SOO much older then Scott. I mean if this takes place in the 60′s, Scott isn’t even born yet. Why include this character at all? It isn’t like the extra character is needed. It isn’t like there aren’t tons of other mutants to choose from. Why Havok? Havok also happens to be Lorna Dane’s(Polaris) long time boyfriend. Lorna Dane is Magneto’s daughter(who obviously isn’t in this film). So why take that away too?

And ergh I just hate that this what they’re doing with Mystique, skanky shapeshifter who throws herself at guys. Sure she sort of does that in comics, but it’s all in a subtle, sexual and smart way so that she never comes across as skanky but strong. I wouldn’t have minded her in this movie, it makes sense for her to be in this movie. But why put her among the younger students? Why not put her and her lover, the seer, Destiny(Irene Adler) who would have been perfect for this movie(seeing as she is a seer and since we all know the future of Magneto/Xavier).

I don’t know. I can only be upset because of the potential this movie could have had. They didn’t need to go all out for a movie like this. They could have just had a terrific story, with great actors(which it has…) with characters who made sense and could have supported a character heavy plot(by character heavy I mean a story that is about Magneto and Xavier). How could they get their full attention among this clutter?

        Yeah I’m a comic nerd :-D.

      • Well after what happened with Wolverine, I don’t have much faith in them doing right by it anymore. I pray for the Deadpool movie.

I thought that’s who Havoc was. I just thought, I mean after trying to fix what they did with the last movies, they really aged someone by like, 30 years? xD

wow josh! you got a lot out of that 1:51 min ;)

though, i do not disagree and i’m sure for the movie purpose they changed/enhanced/messed up certain key parts found in the comic books, but hollywood’s been doing this for years with any book turned into a film. i’m still excited to see it, though ;)

    • Josh says:

Comic nerd, I can’t help it. Plus it’s not just the trailer, it’s from a collection of things I’ve heard and a lot about what I know about the comics itself :-p. But yeah comic nerd, lol

  4. nicole nicole says:

well it looks better then i thought it would

  5. reynold says:

It’s not Angel, she is someone else, it’s Angel Salvadore, link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Salvadore

    • Josh says:

Yes, she is “Angel”, I mean that’s the only name she was referred to in comics. Well until New Warriors, which SUCKED. We ignore that.

  6. baroness says:

I love that you refereed to Magneto and prof X as being former BFF’s – I never thought of it that way, but I always will now – thanks

  7. Josh says:

@baroness: Polaris isn’t really acknowledge by them, no. To be fair the Scarlet Witch is a psych accidentally mass murderer who decimated the mutant population, so she isn’t really acknowledging much(though she’s saner now…). Her and the other two really haven’t interacted much. Polaris; parentage was weird. At first she wasn’t his daughter then randomly a DNA test proved she was. Magneto barely acknowledges her and she’s in space right now, so they haven’t really talked about it. So space, insanity, Magneto was dead for a while…not a lot of time for family talk.

    Gotta love comics :-p.

  8. Cubed_Link says:

Its weird that Alex (Havoc) is in it and Scott (Cyclops) isn’t considering Scott was the first x-man. But then again franchises don’t seem too concerned with continuity. Look at Emma being older here in the 1960′s when she was a young girl in Origins.
I actually like that they put Angel in it. Quite obscure but that’s the neat part. They are branching out of the obvious and standard choices. Its too soon to say whether this will be good or bad but the trailer looks pretty cool.
I have hopes that this will be a solid movie.

I am not a huge comic nerd so I just watch these movies for their entertainment! I don’t need to know everything and why this and why that (I can appreciate people who do). I think it looks good. I am excited to watch it!

  10. Winona says:

I’ll have to watch it more closely a few more times, but I’m not sure how much of that technology (especially the airplanes) is 1960s… still looks really cool, though!
