Watch: Britney Spears, ‘Hold It Against Me’
At Last!!!!!!!

At last … Britney Spears‘s new music video for her new single Hold It Against Me, the first from her upcoming new album Femme Fatale, has been released. Without further ado, check it out below …

GAHHHHHHH!!!!! I LOVE this video so much!! the colors, the dancing, the whole vibe is really freaking cool. If there is one thing I didn’t really love was the camera shot freeze frames … but, if you pause the video during those frames, you’ll find screenshots that you might miss as the video plays:

You will note that my source from the music video set was RIGHT about the news that Britney would be shooting paint from her fingers!! That part of the video turned out really cool, I thought:

So, I’m told that in the video for Hold It Against Me, Britney will be shooting paint from her hands (fingers) onto video screens. The director, Jonas Åkerlund, wanted to paint Britney‘s face for the scene but she was adamantly against having paint put on her face (I’m told she suffered a minor meltdown on set as a result). A body double stand in was used for the paint scenes that Britney was not comfortable doing.

You will note that we do NOT see Britney‘s face during those paint scenes so, yeah, body double for sure. I, personally, think this video delivered in SPADES! The teasers gave us a taste of what the video would be like but until we got to see the whole thing in full, we really didn’t know what we were in for. I love the fight scenes between Britney and Britney … the whole thing is just freakin’ cool, no question. I love it entirely!! Do you?

UPDATE: Britney Spears just tweeted a message on her official Twitter profile about her new music video:

Hope you guys love it as much as I do. If you didn’t I’ll kung fu kick you like I did to that chick in the video.

The LIVING LEGEND has spoken — bow down, beyotches!!

There are some cool ideas here. But to me it was pretty much a standard Britney video. Background dancers, some sort of themed back drop and skimpy clothes. Not really sure why all hype over this. All those previews made it seem like they had a big story line or something, not just 4 minutes of standard music video. Colour me unimpressed.

The product placement is just gross. Sigh. Also, to me, she simply looks damaged. I feel bad for her. I hope all the money is really going to her and she can enjoy it. I just get the feeling that there’s a big industry around her, and she’s like a puppet that brings in the money. It’s a cool video (except the produce placement), but it’s like she’s a sad zombie in it. I hope my take on it is wrong, though!

Afer sleeping on it I’ve gotta say the video is not THAT bad, but she should never work with this director again. Sorry, but his work is horrible. Go back to the guy who directed Womanizer and Toxic, now that’s classic Britney. I’m sure she’ll really bring it for her second video, just watch! :)

It’s okay… I really like the paint stuff, wish it were her. LOL. The perfume and stuff were stupid. But… I’m okay with it. I need to watch more to make a final decision.

  5. Sara says:

Yea that product placement was so so so strange!! Also her dancing was lackluster, I wish it had been more fierce. Having said that, I loved the backup dancers and also the fighting scene! I agree with others that the Womanizer and Toxic videos were better.

Eh…I’m sooo disappointed in this video! There’s no storyline..the whole video doesn’t make sense at all. It just doesn’t go well with the lyrics she’s singing. Too many advertisements! Those advertisements just distract the attention on Britney. I usually love her body figure, but her body proportions is kinda off in this video. I don’t like how they did her make-up either..makes her look older. Her dancing was just so-so. She usually have memorable dance moves in her videos..but not in this one. I just don’t get the concept of it all..especially the paint part. It’s kinda freaky. I was expecting a lot more from her because she’s Britney. I think that either her ppl or her herself is so consume with the current popular futuristic style of pop music that they/she believe that she should go on the same path. I think she’s better than that. Hopefully, the next single and music video is better than this.

Good art means different things to everyone. It provokes thought and questions. Some people get it, some people don’t. One thing is for sure – she was successful in provoking reaction, and that’s what most artists go for. It is not the responsibility of the artist to make sure viewers understand their work. This may have personal meaning to her, and it may have been more for her than us. Some think it is the “storyline” of her career thus far. Read back into the comments to get the breakdown.

I don’t get it… Was that an advertisement or a music video? I’ve seen commercials with a better story line.

  8. Rigo says:

I think she should work with Joseph khan again. HE got her vision. Not many people do. Stronger continues to be one of my all time faves.

love the vid, love brit, love you trent! :)

I’m not a tweeter, rarely every listen to the radio or watch tv so I haven’t heard about the hype over the video. I’ve seen links to the teasers but never watched any of them. I guess that’s a good thing because it might’ve ruined video for me. I thought it was fun and actually made me like the song more haha.

I keep hearing people complain about the product placement bit. Am I the only one that doesn’t care about it? I feel like people complain about it because everyone else is… Also, I’ve read about people saying that she had body doubles for the dancing and they just digitally added her face on top of the double’s body. I mean, while Britney’s dancing was still way better than I could do, it was a bit lackluster. If they actually did that, don’t you think they’d get a better dancer? Just sayin… The song is really fun to dance to though.

Wanted to like it, but not feeling the song or the video. I mean the song is based on a really bad pick up line!

  12. Cecil says:

I like this video and to everyone who is saying the video has no concept: the video opens up with a rocket hitting the earth (like how Britney exploded when she first got onto the music scene), the begins battlining with herself and her personal struggles (thats why she begins shaking in the wedding dress), then she falls in love with a regular guy (the plenty of fish part) and her personal problems begin to destry the legacy of her past work (thats why she’s shooting paint everywhere) and then the struggle to return to prominence.

  13. kristin says:

i was envisioning a kick ass dance sequence in the musical break part of the song…not ass kicking…ugh…i miss old britney :(

  14. wilbur wilbur says:

First of all i’m a newbie here and i’m loving the blog !

Britney’s new video is amazing – Jonas did an excellent job . Yes the dancing is below par bit the vid is more about the rise , fall and rebirth of a new Britney . Technically this outshines his Lady Gaga work with Telophone . I would rate it B+ , roll on the next single !!
I like Gaga’s Born This Way but it feels forced and like she is just jumping on the Gay bandwagon for her next stage in her career – the girl is overrated in my view , but i still do love Gaga .

  15. robin says:

my BIGGEST pet peeve is product placement in movies and tv shows! britney is notorious for doing it in her videos..typically it has just been her own perfume..but now it’s her makeup, her perfume, sony, and a dating service?!? WOW. she really cashed in on this video! it’s kind of brilliant actually. i’m pretty sure music videos typically are paid for by the artist..but she’s really made it into a money making venture! but it’s tacky beyond all reason and just makes the entire video seem like a long commercial. ugh. horrible.

  16. Madsme says:

All I saw was product placement. Every time I got over my frustration and started focusing on her again, there it was. Plenty of Fish, Facebook, some make-up company, Sony. She should treat her fans with more loyalty…we already have enough stuff shoved down our throats by advertisers.

  17. That Girl says:

I was okay with the video. To me I thought Britney was killing the old Britney. The wedding, showing her singing in her first video, Her fighting with herself. Those were messages…

  18. meagan says:

I can’t help but feel like this is a parody of her former self! It’s sooo tacky the way she used Plenty of Fish, and to what end? Ugh…

  19. James says:

This new video was very bad. Britney looked stiff, out dated, over blown-out, to heavily made up and very, very unhappy. The video was at best, poorly edited and thematically disjointed. The single was not catchy or singable, the lyrics don’t fit the music in many places. It was almost unwatchable. I felt bad for her, this was a mistake.
