Earlier today we got our first look at the premiere season of The Real Housewives of Miami when we learned that the show would be debuting on Bravo TV this month. As a result of RHOM‘s debut, the upcoming 4th season of The Real Housewives of NYC has been pushed back to the Spring. RHONY castmember Sonja Morgan, who got busted for DUI last Summer and then filed for bankruptcy last Fall (presumably off camera), spoke to Star magazine about the RHONY delay … she explains the show was pushed back to allow more time for editing.

Just as fans were gearing up for the fourth season of The Real Housewives of New York City, comes news that the premiere has been pushed back until the spring. And, in a surprising twist, Bravo will debut The Real Housewives of Miami instead. “They want it to be the best possible season,” housewife Sonja Morgan explains exclusively to Star. “To do that, they need some more time to edit. We’ve filmed like crazy, more than ever, and we’re seven ladies so they have a lot of footage to go through.” Sonja added, “I think they feel like they have such good stuff, they don’t want to waste it. They want to make sure it’s done properly. Personally I’m relieved. It gives me more time to relax considering Ramona [Singer] and I were shooting seven times a week. They’ll have Miami go out first and when they’re done, we’re up.”
The extra time also allows the network the opportunity to beef up the new season of The Real Housewives of NYC. Without question, the insane success of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has upped the game in the Housewives franchise and I’m certain the NY ladies want their season to be the best ever. So … we have to wait a few months for the RHONY to return … and will get to know the Real Housewives of Miami in the meantime.

I am a Real Housewives of (insert location) junkie. I need an intervention. Where’s Dr. Drew?
Embrace it!
It just weird they would make this decision so late. Something seems fishy…
@your mom — I agree, fishy.
Did anyone else hear it was because RHONY sucked without Bethenny? The whole thing is just … odd. They’ve been airing promos for the past month and them BAM! Miami comes out of nowhere. They JUST announced the cast & it’ll be on in 3 weeks? Weird.
I don’t think it matters what airs next after Beverly Hiils .. It’s going to pale in comparison. RHOBH was reality tv perfection.
I agree. And BH hit jackpot with Camille’s divorce.
NYC still has a special place in my heart, even though BH was downright fab.
