First Listen: Lady Gaga, ‘Born This Way’
"Don't Be A Drag, Just Be A Queen"

At long last … the new single and title track from Lady Gaga‘s upcoming new album Born This Way has been released for our listening pleasure (or displeasure, depending on your opinion). Previously we’ve read the lyrics to the track, then we got to see the single cover artwork … and now, we get to hear the song itself in full.

I’m very interested to hear what YOU think of the track. To me, personally, it sounds reminiscent of songs that we’ve already heard … it bears a striking melodic resemblance to Madonna‘s iconic single Express Yourself — and maybe that is intentional (if not particularly creative). While, at first listen, I don’t consider this song revolutionary nor anthem-like, I will admit it’s not a bad pop song. IMHO, Born This Way isn’t as strong as Bad Romance is but is better than songs like Paparazzi, LoveGame and Poker Face. So … what do YOU think of the track? Do you think this is the song that will change the world?

I liked this song very much but it’s not quite gaga is it not crazy doesn’t have the fun and zest all her other songs have I would give it a seven and a half out of ten!!!!

  3. Adriana says:

I think it’s not good fans to be so hateful and saying bad things about Madonna calling her old, is not kind of role model, teaches to be mean people.

  5. Mykah says:

This song is a horrible doppelganger of Madonna’s classic ‘Express Yourself’ – Very obvious reinterpretation of the song. I hate it in every sense of the word HATE. I know a lot of people probably haven’t heard ‘Express Yourself’ in a while, but take a listen and you’ll see they obviously sound intentionally similar.

    @Trent – Point proven :)

I hope the song isn’t popular next week because I honestly can’t bear to hear it again. It’s torture. It sounds like something from High School Musical with gayer lyrics.

Don’t worry, most radio listeners are panning the song and are requesting that it not get played. I heard it one time all day yesterday and didn’t hear it at all today. Sorry FLopga…

  9. Tyler says:

The song is unmemorable. Sounds like every other dance track out there. Nothing ground breaking. Only getting talked because it’s Lady Gaga.

  10. Nicola says:

I actually quite like it. It’s pretty catchy and good to sing to in my car. Only thing I don’t like is that she says ‘god makes no mistakes’…I’m sure people born with disabilities and such would disagree.

  11. B. says:

WELL IT’S BETTER THEN ANYTHING BRITNEYS PUT OUT IN THE PAST 7 YEARS.

So don’t really care if it’s a “ripoff”!

  12. Jenny says:

I actually like it as a song, it’s just not what I expected from Lady Gaga. I like the message and it’s catchy, but with all the hype surrounding the release I expected it to be something new and groundbreaking. This just sounds like a normal dance song. And I agree with the person who said that if Christina Aguilera released it, Perez Hilton would be blogging about how awful it is.
