Rooney Mara Shows Off Her ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Look On The Red Carpet
Edgy

Last September we got our first look at actress Rooney Mara (The Social Network) in full costume as Lisbeth Salander on the Swedish set of the upcoming David Fincher US remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (you may also recall that in October we got our first look at actor Daniel Craig in character as Mikael Blomkvist on the Dragon Tattoo set). Today we get a closer look at Mara‘s severe Dragon Tattoo look for the first time here in the US in photos from her appearance at last weekend’s 22nd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

Rooney Mara attended the film festival this past weekend as a show of support for her film The Social Network which picked up only their latest award … but she also gives us an up-close look at what her Lisbeth Salander will look like in the Dragon Tattoo film. Previously, Rooney did her best to keep this new look under wraps as she made herself at home in Stockholm, Sweden as she filmed the movie. I guess she is now ready (and able) to show off the look in public here in the US. I have to say, my love for the original Swedish version of Dragon Tattoo has me a bit worried about this US remake … but I trust David Fincher and I am really excited that Trent Reznor has signed on to score the film. But in all honesty, I do not see Lisbeth in these photos. I guess we’ll have to see if Rooney Mara has the acting chops to make me a believer.

I do not see Lisbeth at all in these photos. It does not look even remotely natural on her. Noomi Rapace could pull off the look. I don’t see Rooney Mara being able to or having the acting chops. This is Lisbeth’s movie. If the actress playing her is not up to par the whole thing will fall apart. Also, where are her eyebrows????

I really, really disliked her in the “Nightmare” remake. She was no Nancy and I have real serious doubts that she can be Lisbeth, either.

I knew something was off but couldn’t put my finger on it… so thank you @meghan. Its the eyebrows!

Nope. Still doesn’t work for me. Who made the decision that Lisbeth shouldn’t have eyebrows?????? And the haircut is just awful!!!!!!

I just get that they are trying too hard to make her look badass. Here is another look at her trying to be Lisbeth.

Ugh. No good. He’s too obsessed with Yolandi from Die Antwoord. Yes, she would have been awesome in the role, but imitating her is not the way to go. The no eyebrows thing sucks. Boo! Man, I hope she’s better that we all think she’ll be. She was so bad in Nightmare on Elm Street. But she was good in Social Network. It was such a basic part, though.
