Look out Italians but an orange-tanned contingent of American “guidos” are comin’ your way, that is, if MTV‘s plan for the upcoming 4th season of Jersey Shore pans out. TMZ is reporting today that MTV is planning to scout areas in Italy for the next season of Jersey Shore … which really sucks for the poor unsuspecting Italian people.
The entire “Jersey Shore” cast is finally getting THE BOOT — because we’re told the plan is to shoot Season 4 in Italy! Sources connected to the show tell us they will be scouting locations in Italy — similar to the way they did it in Miami — to find the right locale. One source connected with the show says they’ve already lined up some of Vinny’s Italian relatives to host the “Jersey” crew for an authentic Guadagnino dinner. And we’re told … two months ago execs began working on getting visas for the cast and crew. Of course, the whole thing is contingent on whether the Italian government lets them in the country!!
On the one hand, this sounds like a genius move on MTV‘s part because, really, what else can the show do to stay fresh and new. On the other hand, we run the risk of pissing off the entire country of Italy by saddling them with an infestation of obnoxious Americans. HMMMM. It’s entirely possible that the Italian government won’t let them film in their country but I wouldn’t really count on that happening. Barring any major snafus, it looks like the Jersey Shore cast will be heading to Europe very soon … which, to be honest, is the best news for us here in America in all of this ;)
What do y’all think … is this a good idea?
UPDATE: UNICO, the largest Italian American Service organization in the US, has already issued a statement voicing their displeasure at this plan to have Jersey Shore season 4 film in Italy. Let the controversy commence!

I can only imagine how much they would hate Americans after the Jersey shore clan arrives. The show is getting old. Going to Italy will not revive it.

OMG I am sooo excited!!! And from experience, Italians (in Italy not Italian Americans) actually really love American’s esp those of Italian descent. This could be good!!! I hate myself but this show is my total guilty pleasure! I can not get enough!!

This actually sounds pretty awesome. Although, I think some cast changes are necessary.

I should have clarified that not all Romans hate Americans, just as not all Americans are obnoxious! lol… My italian friends just gave me the low down on how they view Italian-Americans, so I think the Shore cast will be in for some surprises =)

OK, I lived in Italy for a while, I am an Italian teacher and am quite obsessed with their culture and everything, and having lived about 10 minutes away from the U.S. border for most of my life (and going there several times), I understand both cultures and scenarios perfectly.
Based on that, I can tell this will be a DISASTER!! These jerks have nothing Italian on them but their last name! They will be hated over there, I’m sure! (this is where it might get interesting for us viewers, as Nicole pointed out).
Plus, I’m sure they can’t even speak Italian so how is this even going to work??
Last but not least, the name “Jersey Shore” won’t represent anything on the show anymore.
Or maybe they will only take a trip there for like one or two episodes? although the visa thing wouldn’t make sense anymore, ’cause you only need those if you’re staying for more than a month I think.
