In October we learned that the Decepticon villain Shockwave will be heavily featured in the upcoming sequel film Transformers: Dark of the Moon and today we get our first look at how Shockwave will look in the film. In the original cartoon series of the 80s, Shockwave was a robot that transformed into a hand-held laser gun. In Dark of the Moon, it looks like Shockwave will transform into a big scorpion-looking tank thing.

DreamWorks SKG has not released any official picture of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” characters, but a sneak peek to villainous Shockwave has been obtained through the toy. Photos of the toy have hit the web and show the Decepticon both before and after he transforms into a vehicle. When he is in robot mode, Shockwave which is dominated with purple and silver sports an arm cannon and an arm blade. Meanwhile, his alt mode is a Cybertronian tank rather than a Cybertronian gun, his alternate mode when he was first introduced to public. Shockwave has been confirmed as the main villain in the third “Transformers” film although Megatron will still appear in it. The film will see Autobots and Decepticons involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. Shia LaBeouf reprises his role as Witwicky, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is cast as his new love interest, Carly. Michael Bay once again tackles the helming duty for the action sci-fi movie installment, which will hit theaters across the nation on July 1.
While I really hated the last Transformers film, the first movie trailer for Dark of the Moon released last month really changed my prejudiced opinion of the new film. The trailer impressed me, the selection of Shockwave as the main villain impresses me … so far, so good. I can’t wait to see more.

whoever does these designs is so uncreative and down right boring. All the robots just look like cookie cutter bullshit. And that vehicle mode looks like robot shit?
Is it just me, or does that kinda look like the robot in the corner of Sunday football programming?
The 2nd movie was AWFUL!!! Not sure if I want to spend my money on the next one…we’ll see.
@Scott — Yes, even Michael Bay himself admitted the second movie was shite. But check out the trailer for #3, it looks like it will be very good.
