Ugh … hold on to your hats, y’all. People magazine is reporting that Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift, who split last month after “dating” for a few weeks, were spotted in each other’s close company on a dinner date in Taylor‘s hometown of Nashville, TN. As you may know, Jake spent last weekend here in SoCal before attending the Golden Globe Awards last Sunday but — apparently — he left town and made his way to see Taylor in Nashville! Is it possible that the couple are getting back together?!

Is Taylor Swift giving Jake Gyllenhaal another chance? The two stars, whose brief relationship fizzled in December, arrived quietly together on Wednesday at Bound’ry, a restaurant near Swift’s Nashville condo, and were led back to a table for two, according to another patron. “They did eat,” the patron tells PEOPLE. “They were cordial to one another, but not affectionate.” And another source tells PEOPLE that they seemed friendly. “There was no holding hands, but they seemed happy together,” the source says. “They sat next to the fireplace just chatting away.” The two were last spotted publicly together on Dec. 9.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This cannot be happening. I mean … really? Ugh. As you should know, Taylor has been flying sad and solo in Nashville since her relationship ended with Jake and homegirl has been throwing herself into her work. Mebbe THAT’S got Jake worried … cuz when Taylor is working, her ex-boyfriends tend to get skewered in her songs. Perhaps Jake is just trying to smooth things over with Taylor so that the pair can be friends … and so their relationship can stay out of her lyrics.

I mean … these two can’t be going at it romantically again … can they?
