It is that time of the year again when MAC Cosmetics releases their holiday promo photos for their annual Viva Glam campaign … and today we learn that the Viva Glam campaign this year will feature popstars Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin. As you may know, the Viva Glam line of MAC products raises funds for the MAC AIDS Fund so it’s not uncommon for popstars that work with AIDS-related charities to be featured in the campaigns. Click below for your first look at Nicki and Ricky in this year’s Viva Glam campaign photo.
When Puerto-Rican booty-shaker, Ricky Martin, was chosen alongside lipstick loving rapper, Nicki Minaj, to become the new face of Mac Viva Glam 2012, the union caught attention because of its unlikelihood. Now, a first impression of the new lipstick campaign shows the duo looking perfectly matched – playful pop colours and perky poses to boot. The 28-year-old rap singer flaunts her best assets as she suggestively kneels on a motorbike, while Mr Martin, 39, does his best to keep up, flexing his tattooed biceps. David La Chapelle, who is known for his ironic, often comical, style, photographed the pair with a giant pink lipstick in July. The two lipsticks, both shades of pink, are sold entirely for charity, with 100 per cent of the sale price of each product donated to help fight HIV and AIDS. Unsurprisingly, there is no shortage of bright pink in the shot, taken in Miami – the hue is splashed across lips, wrapped around Ms Minaj’s body and colours the glam star’s hair. The $14 lipsticks, dubbed Viva Glam Ricky and Viva Glam Nicki, will go on sale in February, benefitting the campaign that has raised $224 million for HIV/AIDS-related causes since launching in 1994 … Past faces of the ongoing and hugely successful fundraiser include Cyndi Lauper, Naomi Campbell, Missy Elliott, Mary J Blige, Christina Aguilera and Fergie.
First off, I love this photo. It’s classic LaChapelle so I’m a fan. I’m quite impressed that Ricky Martin agreed to be featured in the campaign. Prior to his coming out, I do not think he would’ve agreed to be featured in a cosmetics campaign like this. I love it.
