Earlier this year Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of our dear Britney Spears, joined Twitter and hinted that she was in the process of working on a debut album … in Nashville, TN. Altho she never actually announced the kind of music she was making, my assumption was that she was recording a Country music album. A few days ago, JL confirmed that assumption when she made her Country music debut with a live performance at a local Nashville bar. Her sister is the eight top-selling female artist in the U.S. and has sold over 100 million records worldwide. So it’s no surprise that Britney Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn is eager to follow in her sibling’s singing footsteps. After taking a hiatus from the showbiz world to raise her daughter Maddie, now three, the 20-year-old made her musical debut last week, singing a country music set in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Jamie Lynn took to the stage in front of a small crowd and performed two songs alongside an acoustic band. Video of the performance, which recently surfaced online, shows Jamie Lynn singing at the Rutledge, a live music venue on 4th Avenue South … Both her parents, Jamie and Lynne, were in the crowd for the performance, and were said to be extremely proud of the younger Spears sibling. ‘I am so emotional tonight,’ Lynne said, according to People magazine. ‘We are so proud of her,’ added Jamie. Following the performance an excited Jamie Lynn took to her Twitter page to thank her friends and family. ‘Just wanna thank all my amazing friends and family for coming out tonight!!!’ she wrote.
You may recall that Jamie Lynn has *some* singing experience. She sometimes sang on her TV series Zoey 101 (she even sang the show’s theme song) so it’s really not a surprise that she might want to sing professionally. After taking a few years off to raise her daughter Maddie Briann (who, herself, is a pretty good little singer) it would seem that JL is ready to ease herself back into the public eye. It’s hard to really judge from these videos but I think she sounds pretty good. I’d like to hear more but … I am, thus far, intrigued. Prepare ye the way for the return of Jamie Lynn Spears, y’all! Her voice sounds very nice, especially considering it is live.
A little pitchy but pretty and strong voice! I think it’s brave of her to sing like this :). She has a very different voice than her sister, that’s for sure! I think it’s stronger than Britney’s to be honest.
i think you can only compare their voices if britney will also sing a country style….didnt britney had a strong voice when she was a little girl? who knws she still got it.
She sounds like Miley Cyrus.
