Scarlett Johansson Talks To ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine About Her Leaked Nekkid Photos

“I know my best angles”

Back in September, a man hacked into actress Scarlett Johansson‘s phone and found a couple of semi-nude self portraits … which he then posted on the Internets. Today we are hearing from Scarlett herself on the matter of her leaked nudie pics in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. In addition, Scarlett talks to VF about her (somewhat strange but) very close relationship with director Woody Allen … OH and we also get a sneak peek at her VF photospread. Click below to read/see all of ScarJo‘s VF goodies.

Scarlett Johansson does not seem the least bit ashamed when discussing her recent nude-photo scandal with Vanity Fair contributing editor Peter Biskind. “I know my best angles,” she says with her trademark insouciance. “They were sent to my husband,” now ex Ryan Reynolds. “There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not like I was shooting a porno.” She adds saucily, “Although there’s nothing wrong with that either.” Johansson, who has been active in campaigning for various Democratic political leaders, including Barack Obama, tells Biskind that nearly one term later “we’re all guilty of being idealistic, I and everyone who voted for him.” But in response to being asked if she would work for him again, she says, “It would be irresponsible not to.” She also discusses her friendship with Woody Allen, spawned by their shared tendency toward hypochondria and, subsequently, shared Purell. “He shakes a lot of hands,” Johansson explains. “I’ll squirt some in my hand and then squirt in his.” She also has a bizarre penchant for diagnosing him. “The only reason why Woody and I are still friends is because I’ve diagnosed all kinds of his skin tags, lesions, ailments. I’ve prescribed things for Woody that he’s then asked his doctor to prescribe for him.” Despite their compatibility, after working with Johansson on several films, Allen decided they should take a break: “I have every intention of working with her again, but I just didn’t think it was a great idea for either one of us to work together too intensely, picture after picture. I didn’t want her to be burdened by, ‘Oh, she’s in all the Woody Allen pictures, it’s so predictable,’ and she’s my new muse, and all that silliness.” Johansson does not share his opinion: “I don’t think anything’s played out. I’m waiting for him to write my Citizen Kane.” Johansson says that her role in a revival of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge in 2009 opposite Liev Schreiber “completely took me over in every way. I’d spent four months bleeding all over the stage, completely exposed. I felt I was forever changed by that experience. It was unbelievable holding that Tony.” Her emotional and physical exhaustion after the end of the run was compounded by her subsequent divorce from Reynolds. “I didn’t really know what to do with myself. It was such a strange time. There was nothing that was interesting to me. I had a very public separation. It was difficult. I felt very uncomfortable.”

This excerpt is but a taste of Scarlett‘s upcoming coverstory feature in the December issue of Vanity Fair magazine. I can appreciate her somewhat humorous attitude about her leaked photos. I mean, at this point, what else can she say that would fix the situation. I guess grin and bear it is the best tactic to go with in situations like this. As for her relationship with Woody Allen … erm, yeah, I don’t know if it’s ever a good idea to be examining that man’s body for errant skin tags and other abnormalities … but … well, whatever. It seems to me that Scarlett just really has an affinity for older men. It is making more and more sense why her marriage to Ryan Reynolds didn’t work out … she prolly won’t be happy until she finds the right older man. I’m really curious to read her whole VF interview so hopefully we’ll get more from it soon.

If nude photos are so private & personal that you would be traumatized if they got out.. why keep them on your phone? Sorry, but it reeks of publicity stunt to remind people you’re still around.

    • Lilly

Publicity stunt? Huh? Did she say she was traumatized about it? Her exact words were “They were sent to my husband. There’s nothing wrong with that.” She has a fantastic attitude about the whole thing IMHO.

    • yuck!

“sent to my husband”? She’s pathetic and stupid.

    • Krissy

Yes, because between winning Tonys and filming the Avengers, people have really forgotten that she is around. Career-wise she is doing great, she doesn’t need publicity stunts.

    • Right, Scarlett is the epitomy of what a woma should be, and a beauty need to be shared and admired. What husband wouldn’t want pics of his naked spouse? There’s nothing wrong with her nude body, it’s gorgeous! Thanks for post krissy

I understand that it must be upsetting to have your phone broken into and it is an invasion of privacy, but I have two issues with this story. First of all she has showed just as much if not more in photo shoots and stuff she has done in the past, also why do these actresses keep taking nude photos of themselves if other actresses have their photos leaked…at some point you would think these women would learn. It is starting to feel like the “no underwear” shots with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears etc…like it feels like it is just a PR stunt.

I love Scarlett Johanson I am not trying to hate on her or anything I am just tired of all these nude photo stories that seem to pop up every few months.

@Michele: I am sure there are people out there who are grateful they do pop up every so often. She is a beautiful lady. Look at the picture…it’s like she’s a Michelangelo. But my heart sank, when I clicked to look closer to see if she went THERE, and noticed that she indeed did have a pearl earring on. On one hand, it is a sensitive homage, on the other, I am more than well past that and it feels stale. At any rate, this portrait looks like one of those you see in the great halls of great english country houses. It would spark mystery for generations.

  5. I also *heart* her!

  6. joanna

I don’t care what anyone says, she is my forever girl crush!

  7. kelly

woody allen = man who raised an adopted girl as his daughter from a young age and then had sex, and children, with her. i can’t deal.

  8. Nate

I love that she see’s nothing wrong with doing porn. That’s so cool. Saucily or not.

  9. lemon

there IS nothing wrong with doing porn or watching porn. it’s the close-minded people who make a big deal out of nothing.
