No Doubt Delay New Album Until 2012

Early last month we got an update from No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani on the band’s progress as they write and record their new album and, at the time, she let us know that work on the album has been “desperate” but productive. Today, an official statement on the official No Doubt website announces that the planned album has been pushed back to 2012. Click below to read the explanation why.

Dear Friends,
We’ve been incommunicado for the past few weeks so we wanted to reach out and say hi. Work on the new No Doubt album is well underway and we can’t wait to share it with you. The past twelve months have been eventful; we performed for Paul McCartney and President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors, three beautiful new No Doubt babies were born, and we’ve recorded in studios all over Los Angeles. Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it’s just not ready yet. We don’t want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it’s the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do…

We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support. We’ll keep you updated here at and on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

PS. There have been some stories circulating about us collaborating with outside producers and artists. Please don’t believe anything you hear unless it comes from us.

Blah. But … it’s cool. As much as I would LOVE to get the new No Doubt album sooner rather than later, I’d much prefer the disc to be as perfect as possible rather than rushed. I guess we’ll just have to sit tight and wait a wee bit longer for the goods. Sigh.

It’s been too long and besides it’s the only only way we can ever hear Gwen Stefani sing again :( At least some time frame is better than no time frame IMO.

I think their ship has sailed. I mean, I can see them coming back, but I think they won’t last that long, really. They’re struggling to write songs for the past year or so now. I dunno. Maybe they got the magic but… Maybe they don’t.

    • @CHASE — You always bring the rainbows and sunshine ;)

I cannot wait for this album to come out. whoever thinks that the ship has sailed or whatever is just dumb. It will be their best album to date. No doubt rocks. They always will!

will be their best album to date? speculate much?

I’m grateful that some people in the music business still give a sh*t about the music they are producing. So many artists these days rush to get an album out to make more money that the quality of some music has gone down at an alarming rate. I loved No Doubt back in the day, and I’m sure I’ll love whatever they come out with next year :)

  • I was never a huge fan but I must say whenever I hear their music on the radio I always sing along and smile, there sound always feels fresh? I agree that I’d rather wait for good songs than get instant blah. That being said i can never understand why some bands take so long to make an album. If you break it down, most albums have at most 12 songs. A band should be able to put out an awesome album at least every three years. So that means they have at least a year to write four fuckin awesome songs. why is that so hard?
