The iPhone 5 Will Reportedly Be Released On October 5

Rumor Has It ...

A couple of weeks ago we learned that Apple is REPORTEDLY releasing the iPhone 5 in October and today we get to see a piece of evidence that seems to confirm that report. According to a leaked internal memo from Best Buy (provided by Boy Genius Report), Sprint will be releasing the iPhone 5 on October 5 … which means, if true, then AT&T and Verizon will also be releasing the iPhone 5 on the same date. Again, none of this news has officially been confirmed by Apple but I’m of the mind that this Best Buy memo is the real deal. Check it out below.

Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October. What’s a tad bit more interesting, however, is the mention (and further anticipation) that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 5 at launch. Best Buy makes sure to note that Apple product introduction and launch dates are subject to change, but a preorder date changing is pretty different from a new carrier getting a phone for the first time. UPDATE: Our source clarified that it’s actually possible presales will be starting this week with the phone arriving in the first week of October, not preorders starting in October.

Here is the text from the image above for those you having difficulty reading it:

BBYM: iPhone 5 product introduction expected, pre-sales begin for expected October week 1 launch/Sprint launches iPhone 5
(Apple product introduction/launch dates subject to change)

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the next iPhone is coming in just a few weeks. BUT keep in mind … we still don’t know anything about it. No specs, no update deets … nothing. Still, I fully expect that Apple will be selling millions of these new toys without any problems at all.

Macrumors is also reporting the following:
Meanwhile, ThisIsMyNext reports that Best Buy is also expecting a new “Apple Fixture Installation” on Friday, October 21st.

To be clear, this isn’t a run-of-the-mill installation for the big box — our tipster tells us that the request that a manager be on-hand at 6AM is out of the ordinary (they usually show up at 7AM for inventory), and that a similar arrangement was scheduled for the iPhone 4 launch.
The new fixture could represent signs and displays for the iPhone 5 which has been rumored to launch at some point in October.

  3. Most of the rumors I’ve been hearing are a late September Pre-Sale and then a full launch somewhere between the 5th and 15th of October. I’m really excited. It’s my family’s Christmas present to me. I’ve not upgraded phone wise in almost 2.5 years. It’ll be nice to be on new tech.

    • @AmandaMarie — OOH! 2.5 years is a long time … I think you’ll be thrilled with the new iPhone. I still really love my iPhone 4.

    • I’m way excited. If you take care of an Apple product properly it’s proof that it will last and still be a good phone. Mine suffered it’s first serious drop about 2 months ago. Off a 2nd story balcony. I thought I was screwed, but the fact it landed in grass plus the fact I’d gotten it ghost-armored and then had a case on it… saved it. I’m really excited to finally have face time. :-)

My 3GS still works like a charm.

I’m over apple, period. They have already created all of the technology for the Iphone, Ipad, Ipod, and everything else but they are going to trickle out features little by little, year after year to keep janking us for hundreds of dollars.
