Megan Fox Believes Marilyn Monroe Was A ‘Negative Character’

"I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life."

Back in April we discovered that actress Megan Fox was undergoing the process to have her infamous Marilyn Monroe tattoo removed from her arm and today we learn why, exactly, she decided to have it removed. According to new comments published in the Italian magazine Amica, Megan believes that Marilyn Monroe was a “negative character” who had a lot of problems in life and she now regrets having her face tattooed on her body. Fox believes that having Marilyn tattooed on her person will bring negative energy into her life … and that is why she is now having it removed. Um, ok.

Megan Fox has revealed she is removing her tattoo of Marilyn Monroe in a bid to avoid attracting ‘negative energy’. The 25-year-old actress, whose acting career has floundered in recent years, began laser treatment on her forearm inking earlier this year. She was quizzed about her etching of the iconic blonde bombshell, who died in 1962 at the age of 36, by Italian magazine Amica. Fox, who was spotted on the set of This is 40 in LA today, explained: ‘I’m removing it. It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life.’ It’s not the only body adornment she has grown to regret. When asked about her navel piercing, she said: ‘I did it when I was 16-years-old because I was a fan of Britney Spears. The only time I tried to imitate someone else. But then I thought it was tacky and so I removed it when I turned 20.’ Former Transformers star Megan has around nine tattoos – other inkings include; a quote on her shoulder reading ‘We will all laugh at gilded butterflies’ and a tribal mark on her left wrist. She also has a tribute to her Passion Play co-star Mickey Rourke, 57. The tattoo, over the right side of her rib cage, reads: ‘Those who danced were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.’ She told MTV.com: ‘Mickey is such a beautiful, wonderful human being. He’s so genuine and so sweet and so talented. I just love him to death. I actually got a tattoo that is sort of in honour of him. It’s on my ribs.’ While the Passion Play actors hit it off, the film was not such a success – it flopped in spectacular fashion and went straight to DVD. It was yet another blow to Megan’s acting career, which has nosedived since she parted ways with the successful Transformers franchise.

LOL! I mean … I guess that makes sense. Let’s just hope that Megan doesn’t one day find Mickey Rourke to be a “negative character” as well otherwise she might have to undergo more painful laser tattoo removal in the future. I mean, I’m not even going to get into the whole Marilyn being a negative character thing … that’s just, funny. It sounds like Megan is blaming the negativity in her life on Marilyn Monroe. But let this be a lesson to all of you. Think carefully before you get a tattoo. Laser tattoo removal, I understand, is insanely painful. Think before you tat. Don’t be another Megan Fox.

Ugh. That is all I really have to say about that.

  2. Wynter

Yeah, it makes sense. All the bad acting jobs she has done over the years and the bad rumors and press? All because of a drawing on her arm. She should get a tattoo of Katherine Hepburn or Meryl Streep, and the Academy Awards will come a-flying.

  3. Joanna

I guess calling Michael Bay, “Hitler”, had nothing to do with her nosedive of a career. Biting the hand that feeds you before you really even had your career up and running, wasn’t a smart move. Not your ill placed, thoughtless tat!

  4. Brandy

Way to continue to negatively stereotype mental illness. I have tried to like her, but, she’s just so foolish. She does a good job of making people think her beauty is only skin deep.

“She does a good job of making people think her beauty is only skin deep.”

Seriously! She is the one ruining her own career.

  5. Magan

Marilyn Monroe a negative character? Please, the woman made a few mistakes in her life, but it doesn’t mean that she brings negative energy. Megan you really need to think befoe you speak. Your poor choses have nothing to do with Marilyn Monroe. That’s all on you!

  6. Megan

I agree with Brandy. She just essentially said that “all people with bi-polar/personality disorders bring negative energy.”

    Way to stay classy, Fox.

  7. Missy

The only negative energy that tattoo brought into her life was that it was ugly.

  8. Melissa

It really bothers me that someone in her position would make such an ignorant and generalizing statement about the mentally ill.
I mean, why does every tattoo removal have to be some grand statement? She could have simply said she was sick of it instead of bashing Marilyn Monroe and mentally ill people. Obviously she has no idea what the heck she’s even talking about.

  9. Wynter

She can’t blame the tattoo for Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. She didn’t have it then.

  10. jessica

didn’t she get that tattoo way before she was on anyone’s radar? Why would the so called negative energy just start now?

  11. Amanda

I’ve actually always liked Megan, until now. I always believed her to be a lot more down to earth than most celebrities, but this is just plain stupid.

First of all, why tattoo someone’s face on your body that you clearly knew nothing about prior to doing so? Secondly, Marilyn was a beautiful and inspiring woman, and I think the mental health issues she dealt with only added to the appeal of her character – it gave her a sincerity that is so rare in Hollywood starlets. I can no longer say the same for Megan.

  12. Yes, Megan Fox is clearly a bastion of balance and the picture of mental health, so she has the right to be calling troubled people “negative.” What was I thinking when my knee jerk reaction was “asshole!”
On the other hand I imagine that Marilyn’s spirit is only too glad to be having her image erased from Megan Fox’ body.

  13. Tawny

I’m sorry but Fox could never get to the level and legendary status that is Marilyn Monroe.

  14. Sarah

Who’s Megan Fox and who cares?

  15. bosie

Megan Fox is stupid…SERIOUSLY woman…own up to ur own mistakes and don’t blame it on a tatt. Same for you Britney Spears…either enjoy the stage or get off …let someone with mor etalent enjoy the spotlight.

  16. Mela

If she wants to stop attracting negative energy in her life she should probably shut her mouth. I rarely hear her say anything that isn’t ignorant.

  17. W-T-F “It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar.” she isn’t a ‘character’ she’s a person, who not only ‘suffered from’ bipolar but overcame it to be one of the most sensational (albeit tragic) female role models in history. I have bipolar disorder, I’m not a negative character at all yeah I’m hard to handle sometimes but at least I’m not some jumped up ignorant celebrity with a dwindling career and bad plastic surgery.

  18. Courtney

wow. what a completely stupid comment. that said, it’s probably a good thing because 1. that tattoo does NOT do mm justice, and 2. it was tacky as hell.

  19. PixiesBassline

I’m not saying it was a really bad looking tattoo because I’ve seen some really awful portrait tattoos.. but I just noticed that the mouth and nose are not in the right position with eachother. lol
Maybe it just does that because of where its located… which I personally think is a bad location for a tat of that sort. (Since it will change shape if you move your arm)

  20. rob

She went to some hokey psychic in LA who told her she had to get that tattoo removed – and was gullible enough to believe it.

  21. cutitout

Honestly, I kind of agree with her, Marilyn Monroe was and is an “iconic” image but I don’t think that she is someone folks should idolize or aspire to be. She did not make it. Who needs to be led by that unfortunate energy. Skip the tatt and by a T-shirt.
