The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards Will Give Us Our First Look At ‘The Hunger Games’

The First Video Footage

MTV will air the 2011 Video Music Awards LIVE from Los Angeles, CA this Sunday night and altho the night is devoted to accomplishments in music video, it is a show that pays homage to pop culture events as well. The Hunger Games is one of THE most anticipated films of 2012 and MTV announced today that it will debut the FIRST video footage from the film during the VMAs on Sunday night! Games fans, you gotta tune in and watch it LIVE!

Katniss Everdeen is stepping out of the Hunger Games arena and into the Moonman-filled madness of the MTV Video Music Awards. At the VMAs on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, MTV will debut the very first look at footage from “The Hunger Games,” the Jennifer Lawrence-starring adaptation of the best-selling dystopian novel. Up until now, we’ve seen photos of Lawrence as the arrow-wielding Katniss, plus glimpses of Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. But we haven’t yet seen “Hunger Games” in action. All that will change during the 28th annual VMAs, when Lawrence herself introduces the exclusive look, which will then be available exclusively on MTV.com … The first glimpse at the film, which hits theaters March 12, 2012, is just one juicy part of the pop-culture parade that is the VMAs. Get ready for performances from Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Adele, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown, plus appearances by Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian and Odd Future. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. I hope I can avoid reacting like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vqmILSKfew

Speaking of Twilight, my husband had to rain on my parade when I showed him this story this morning, by blabbing about the probable fact that they are marketing this to the teeny boppers who watch the VMAs because their target audience is the Twilight freaks … And that the movie will probably wind up sh*tty and lame like the Twilight flicks. I pray to the lord Jeebus that he is wrong.

    • @Rachael — I agree that they are going after the Twilight fanbase but I think these films will be much better than the Twilight films. After all, the source material is already light years better.

    • Rachael

Hey Trent, yeah that’s exactly what I’m hoping … with the source material being light years better than Twilight, Hunger Games stands a better chance of being good. :) If not, then we only have the folks in charge of the movie to blame for ruining it. ;-) The fact that they are shooting for a PG-13 rating still makes me nervous, but we’ll see how that goes. Fingers crossed!! I will be nervously waiting to see the preview on Sunday hehe …
