Go big or go home – that’s the motto for season nine of the Emmy and James Beard Award-winning No.1 food show on cable, “Top Chef,” as it heads to the state that does everything bigger – Texas. Possibly the worst kept locale secret in this moment’s culinary universe, the new season of “Top Chef” will heartily embrace the Lone Star State’s adage that all things are bigger as, in a series first, the production will head to three cities within the season – Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. Season nine will also showcase many surprising twists and turns and never-before-seen challenges and events. Returning to the judges table is host Padma Lakshmi and head judge, chef Tom Colicchio, alongside judges Gail Simmons and new this season, famed chef and restaurateur Emeril Lagasse and critically acclaimed chef Hugh Acheson. “Top Chef: Texas” will air later this fall.

Oh yeah … I am SO down. I love Top Chef. I love Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. I wholeheartedly approve. I can’t wait to hear more (and see some promo photos) but this is great news to get use excited for the new season. Woot!!

  2. Adriana

I’m from SATX and this is sooooo exciting to me!

  3. Jessica

Does anyone know how to be one of the people at the parties for the challenges? where do I find this info? I live in Dallas and have heard rumors about Padma being in town so I’m SUPER excited!

  4. Shannon

I love that Hugh Acheson is gonna be a judge. Love him and his unibrow! Meh on emeril.

  5. Kalli

This is so exciting, especially since I live in SA! Just last week, Pee Wee Herman was here filming a challenge in front of the Alamo (but not in te basement), the cheftestants have been spotted doing their shopping at the local specialty grocery and Whole Foods and Padma and Tom have been spotted dining at the local hot spots. SO happy to see San Antonio get some love from my fave show!

  6. As a Texan, I always think shows should come here. But then we end of up things like Most Eligible Dallas. Blech! I have no doubt that Top Chef will do it up right, though!*

  7. Margie

Why not Houston is beyond me. Is it that hard to peg us? Maybe it’s for the best that no one does. However, hurray for Texas being showcased on Top Chef.

IKR! I was pretty miffed a/b that myself, not that I watch the show but I’d have been more incline to if it was in HOU. WE have TONS of restaurants. Damn Dallas always getting the good stuff, that city is so boring.

    • OK, I’ve lived here my whole life, and I don’t know of anyone who likes Dallas that isn’t from Dallas- sorry, Dallas crew, but the rest of the state thinks you’re a bit pretentious. Why no love for Houston??? Sigh. I guess we’ll just keep being underrated… I like that SA is getting it’s moment to shine, though, and Austin ALWAYS deserves the love!!!!

  8. Katie

I can’t stand Emeril! This depresses me :(.

  9. bj

    I’m from Austin, Can’t wait!!!
