Yeah, I am not the biggest Katie Holmes fan … not by any stretch of the imagination … but she looks really amazing in these photos. I always wonder what her life and career might be like today if she had never married Tom Cruise. I mean, at this point, it seems like she is very happy with her family … but without the whole TomKat thing to overshadow her, I wonder what kind of star she might have turned out to be. But … I digress. These photos are hot … I wish she’d do more photoshoots like this. She looks great, don’t she?
She does look awesome! I agree that I always wonder about her, but I kinda think her career would be LESS successful if she hadn’t married him. She seems like one of those people who would just fade into the background (in fact, like most of her Dawson’s Creek costars have, for the most part).

She looks great, but I don’t think her career would have been better without her hubby. She is a really bad actress, IMO. At least in these photos she isn’t smiling/smirking with only half of her mouth…like she did in EVERY photo in the newest Instyle. It looks like a botched botox reaction.

I agree with others- she looks amazing! But I think without Tom we wouldn’t hear much about her. These photos are amazing, except the lower left one with the poofy neck thing. Otherwise- hot!
I think I’m the only one who finds her pictures bland…she looks alright but she just radiates blahness. Cover photo is terrible, her features look like they’re melting.
Katie was wonderful in Pieces of April and I think would have done a great interpretation of Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl–remember that she was cast in it originally, until her jailer I mean then-boyfriend pressured her to drop out. (I loved Sienna in the part.)
Before she was squished into submission by that has-been midget, Katie Holmes had both a vulnerability and a glance that could alternately be smoky or challenging and a certain spirit that made her very appealing. I think she would have had a fantastic career.
That said, it’s a) her fault that she sold herself to someone who promised her great roles and riches in turn for marriage b)it pains me to say, but Katie seems extraordinarily vulnerable to strong minded men and if it weren’t Tom, it might have been some other nutjob in his place.
Sad though.
I think it is a big assumption to say that her boyfriend pressured her to drop out of Factory Girl, and that she is a victim of a strong minded man. You don’t know what goes on in their relationship.

Aesthetically, yes, they are beautiful photos, but really without personality – I agree with the comment that they are “bland.” Too done. I also agree that she was amazing in Pieces of April and that her marriage to Tom Cruise did not put her on the map, it took her off the map. She has become somewhat of a Stepford Wife. Reading articles with interviews of Nicole Kidman from how controlling he was in their relationship gives some indication that the sense that Katie is eclipsed by him aren’t totally off the mark.
