Anne Hathaway Talks To ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ Magazine About Her Catwoman Training

"I've always thought that skinny was the goal"

Last week we watched video of True Blood star Joe Manganiello showing off his “werewolf workout” to Details magazine and today we get the skinny on another supernatural workout. Anne Hathaway is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine in in her coverstory interview, she talks a wee bit about the training she is doing to play the role of Catwoman in the upcoming sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. Click below to see Anne‘s Bazaar coverphoto, read some excerpts from her interview and check out some photos from her fun London-themed photospread.

Anne Hathaway has learned that it takes a lot more than milk and a few naps to perfect her Catwoman mojo for “The Dark Knight Rises.” “I’ve always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. Along with a high-level acting performance as Selina Kyle, a character previously defined by the likes of Julie Newmar and Michelle Pfeiffer, Hathaway has had to prepare her body for the Christopher Nolan project’s twists, bends and occasional moments involving the martial arts. Her new regimen? Five days a week of high-intensity workouts and stunt training, following by an hour and a half of dance class to keep her lean, she told the mag.

While I really love Anne Hathaway, I’m still having a very hard time seeing her as Catwoman. I’m curious to hear more about her Catwoman training and I’m DYING for our first look at her in character on set. As you may recall, we got our first look at Tom Hardy as Bane last month … my guess is that we may get a tease of Anne as Catwoman sometime this year. I hope her workout regimen is successful … she has a long way to go to convince me that she can play the lithe and feline Catwoman. As for body type, I think she is pretty “lithe” already. Her arms are super skinny! I think body-wise she will be fine…it is the personality/attitude that I am more concerned about. Her eyes will look great in a mask.

  2. yeah, im not sure she has the attitude for it, hopefully she’ll be a big surprise and shut us all up.
as for the pictures..i like them. i LOVE the one of her on the double decker…but that one that looks like shes floating should have been left out.

  3. These photos are so pointless. Anyways, um, hmm… I think Anne can pull it off! Hopefully Catwoman has straight hair and not, er, curly, like Anne’s. Also, Emily Blunt would have been a far better choice, but Christopher Nolan does know what he’s doing, so… She must have done something right for him to pick her.

  4. I have absolutely no worries about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. First of all, she is an astounding acting talent and secondly, we know that with Nolan we’re not going to get what we expect from the character of Selina Kyle. It’s not going to be Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman, it’s going to be a brand new imagining and I cannot wait to see it.

She’s really grown into her features and she’s really beautiful. Aging is so awesome for some people.

Can’t wait to see her as Catwoman! Btw, does anyone else think she looks a little bit like Nigella Lawson in the cover picture?

  7. I like the idea of her as Catwoman because I think that she will do a great job of showing how Catwoman went from being shy and meek to sassy and sexy. She is a great actress and should bring a lot of depth to the part.

    I think she’ll kill it.
