Jennifer Lawrence Shows Off Her Underwear In ‘GQ’ Magazine

Jennifer Lawrence, who received an Academy Award-nomination for her work in Winter’s Bone, will be seen in the prequel film X-Men: First Class this Summer and just nabbed the lead role in The Hunger Games trilogy, is featured in the new issue of GQ magazine. For her spread, Jennifer is inexplicably wearing nothing but underwear. I guess because GQ is a men’s magazine, women who are featured in their pages must be as scantily-clad as possible. HMMM.

Thus far, I’ve been pretty impressed with Jennifer’s work but I am very turned off by the fact that she is also featured in the new Jodie Foster film The Beaver, which also stars the racist homophobic a-hole Mel Gibson. For that fact alone, I will not see her in that film. I am very much looking forward to seeing her in X-Men: First Class this Summer and, of course, as Katniss Everdeen in the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. I guess I totally get why she has to be photographed in her underwear for publication in GQ magazine but something about how out-of-context the shoot is to the accompanying article feels kinda … skeezy. Jennifer Lawrence does look very lovely in these photos but … it’d be nice if GQ let her wear some clothes, for at least one photo.

    Your subtitle is brilliant!

Trent, I’m sure she did the movie for the script (it’s been getting praise despite Mel Gibson, even though he’s been getting praise too) so I wouldn’t really hold it against her. I have no plans to see it, but I may RedBox it in the future.

Also, “Winter’s Bone” was a horrible movie! It was so promising and then it went anti-climatic. The movie is pointless. I was extremely disappointed, but her performance was good.

Wow…I thought she looked the most drop dead gorgeous at the academy awards but these pictures just turn me off….I don’t know it’s her face? Her cheeks? Her eyes? Her body? I don’t know…she doesn’t look like a nasty pig but I think she looks kinda anti-climatic

I don’t think it’s necessarily her that makes these pictures a little meh, it’s the underwear she’s wearing. It’s unflattering on her body and her hair looks really plain and boring.

But I’m sure if this was your Jake G posing in his underwear, that wouldn’t feel so skeezy to you. It would feel glorious, no? :)

    • @Janaegal — Maybe but I still can’t help but feel that these photos seem a bit exploitative.

Perhaps but actors and celebrities do it mroe oftent than not, it garners attention the obviously need. I just don’t see the difference between a male actor (like Jake or Zac Efron or Channing Tatum) shot in their underwear and a female one shot in her underwear.

    • @Janaegal — Really? We live in a society that exploits the sexuality of women and not men.

      *more often

It seems to me you’re just reinforcing that attitude by having a problem with a grown woman in her underwear but posting only positive things about a man in his? Why not be positive that a new actor, who is of age, is proud of her body that she probably works damn hard for.

    • @Janaegal — I think I’d be more positive if it felt more like it was her decision to pose in this way rather than the decision of a photo editor for a men’s magazine.

PS and side note…is it just me or does she look JUST like Stephanie Pratt?!

  • I find the picture boring, doesn’t look sexy for me. Her eyes is not dramatic in some way.
